10. Summary of thesis results:

The research results showed that the interviewees only accepted the existence of lesbians when lesbians did not affect their family values and norms, that is, they had difficulty accepting or not accepting lesbians if they were a family member.

The thesis also shows that 18.18% of the interviewees do not understand or have mistaken knowledge about sexual orientation. They often judge the sexual orientation of lesbians through appearance and external expressions and assume that transgender people from female to male and lesbians are the same. The community's misunderstanding of the lesbian group is also reflected in the perception of the cause of lesbianism. The community often believes that lesbianism is due to congenital diseases or the impact of social factors and can be cured through education, therapy, and integration measures.

The level of trust of the interviewees in the media when reporting on lesbians is very high, with 82% of people trusting central and local television programs, 57% trusting newspapers, magazines, printed news, and 43% trusting electronic newspapers and magazines. This also means that if messages are prejudiced or unscientific about lesbians, they can create or reinforce false perceptions and discriminatory attitudes. On the contrary, objective, scientific messages will help the community form correct perceptions and standard behaviors towards this social group.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: ..............................................................................

The study has shown that the respondents accept the existence of lesbians in the community. However, they hardly accept or do not accept lesbians who are members of their family because they could negatively impact the values and standards of their families.

The respondents have a very high level of trust in various media sources when reporting on lesbian related stories.

This study has also indicated shown that 18.18% of the respondents do not understand sexual orientation. They often identify lesbians by the way they look or their behaviors. Often they think that transsexuals and lesbians are the same. Some respondents even said that they thought lesbianism is a congenital disease or due to the impact of social factors which can be treated by the methods of education, therapy, or inclusiveness.

Approximately 82% of respondents trust television programs from the central and local regions, 57% trust printing newspapers, magazines, newsletters and 43% trust online newspapers and magazines. This means that if prejudice or unscientific messages about lesbians are shown in the media, it can create or reinforce misconceptions and stigma about lesbians. Contrary, if objective and scientific messages are shown, this will help positively shape communities awareness and behaviors towards lesbians.
