Summary of Thesis Results: Writer Nam Cao made significant contributions to the modernization of Vietnamese literature from its early days. He found his own unique approach to reflecting reality. While Nguyen Cong Hoan, Vu Trong Phung, and Ngo Tat To—outstanding realist writers of the Democratic Front period (1936-1939)—focused on directly reflecting social contradictions and conflicts, Nam Cao's works—the most outstanding representative of the final stage of the realist movement (1940-1945)—concentrated on the conflicts within the characters' inner worlds. Never before had everyday stories possessed such tremendous power as in his works. From these very ordinary stories, Nam Cao truly touched upon issues of a humanistic nature, raising profound questions about life, the human condition, social reform, and the future of the nation and humanity. He lived and wrote to the fullest, believing in the principle of "live first, then write." When the nation called, he took up his pen and lived for that great struggle. His stories possess an enduring appeal, undiminished by time. Even in today's era, with the advancements in literature, the changing atmosphere, and diverse reader preferences, readers still find Nam Cao's writing captivating, sometimes even seeing it as a reflection of life unfolding outside. His short stories feature a narrator who plays a flexible role in storytelling, an underlying narrative structure that is difficult to break, and a unique and captivating style of language and tone. This thesis proposes studying Nam Cao's works using narrative studies—a useful tool for application to specific literary creations. However, the literary value left behind by Nam Cao still has much that we cannot fully explore. Each era, upon receiving Nam Cao's works, will find many things considered timeless, the intractable problems of their time such as the problems of humanity, happiness, human dignity, poverty, etc. 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: Nam Cao's works are the important parts of Vietnam's literature during the first part of the 20th century wich was believed to be a process of literature modernization. He found his own way to approach and react to the facts. Following and developing the social descriptive path of Nguyen Cong Hoan, Ngo Tat To and Vu Trong Phung, Realism Democratic Movement 1936-1939, who concentrated on reflecting the conflict and divergence of the society, Nam Cao stuck himself into realism path. His way of writing is so alert that there is no place for illusion and polish. (1941-1945) – he focused on the lingering distressful tragedies of their inner souls, nature of the society full of slaves, backwardness, class discrimination, inequality which are the causes of human corruption. Never before, had the daily stories had such power in Nam Cao's stories, from the factual and daily issues, he was successful to approach the humanity issues, have new and eminent and deep look on life and human corruption, on social reform, the nationality and the word. Nam Cao's distinctive heritage of works has become increasingly significant in the descendants' eyes. His works long live with time no mater how the new development and the modern atmosphere of literature, the demand of readers are various and changing. By reading Nam Cao's stories, the reader can still feel the deeply impressed because they can see what was described in Nam Cao's wokers is happening around them. Nam Cao managed to create a more or less polyphonic language by paying due attention to the fluctuations and changes in characters' psychology. Being able to create a complex network of language including both outside and inside one wich are even integrated and mixed with each other.
