Summary of the thesis results: In Vietnam, traditional crafts with a history spanning thousands of years are facing many difficulties and challenges in the new era. Furthermore, in the trend of industrialization and modernization, traditional crafts are at risk of disappearing in some localities, especially in some suburban craft villages of Hanoi, due to the high rate of urbanization, national highways, and tourist and entertainment centers gradually replacing fields and agricultural land. People desire to change occupations to suit the new life. The Phu Do – Me Tri – Tu Liem – Hanoi vermicelli-making village is a typical example of such villages. The thesis has contributed to clarifying the unity between the internal awareness, desires, and outward behaviors of the people in preserving the traditional vermicelli-making craft in Phu Do – Me Tri – Tu Liem – Hanoi. The thesis assesses the current state of behavior in preserving, building, and developing the local traditional craft. This thesis contributes to clarifying the dialectical relationship between the preservation of traditional crafts and the industrialization and urbanization of the locality; it clarifies the theoretical and practical basis for preserving and promoting local traditional crafts. 11. Practical application: It provides the Party Committee and government of Phu Do Village, Me Tri Commune, Tu Liem District, Hanoi City in particular; and the Party, State, and relevant agencies in general, with the basis and arguments to guide the preservation and protection of local traditional crafts in a positive and effective manner during the period of industrialization and modernization of the country. The thesis can be used as a reference, learning, and teaching material. 12. Future research directions: With the research methodology and approach of this thesis in Phu Do Village, Me Tri Commune, Tu Liem District, Hanoi City, it is possible to apply this to research the issue of preserving and promoting other traditional crafts throughout the country.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: In Vietnam, traditional handicraft as been developed for thousand years. Now, it has so many difficulties and challenges. Morever, in the stage of modernization and industrialization, tradional handicraft runs the risk of being oblivion in some regions, especially in suburbs of Hanoi for being high speed of urbanising, construction highway, center ares of relaxation, tourism replaces fields and gardens, ground for planting and production. People have desire to change their profession to accommodate new style – life. Handicraft – vermicelli Phu Do village – Me Tri Group – Tu Liem District – Ha Noi city is symbolic village like that. This thesis has contributed to clarifying the united concept, desire inside and behavior outside of habitants towards conserving tradional handicraft – vermicelli in Phu Do Village, Me Tri Group , Tu Liem Dictrict, Ha Noi city. This thesis estimates the actual situation of behavior preserving towards, developing traditional handicraft in the region. This thesis has contributed to clarifying the dialetic concern between behavior towards preserving and promoting traditional handicraft with the industrialization and urbanising of this region: clarified theoretical basis and practical in preserving and promoting traditional handicraft in this region. 12. Practical applicability: Helf for the Party, authorities in Phu Do Village- Me Tri Group – Tu Liem District – Ha Noi city in particular, the Party, State and other agencies in general bases and grounds to direct the preservation and promotion of traditional handicraft in this region activities and effectively in the period of modernalization and industrialization.
