Summary of the thesis results: On television programs worldwide, graphics are a popular form of information transmission, widely used by many television stations. However, in our country, this is an area that has not been fully explored. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to provide journalists and television professionals with a theoretical framework on television programming and graphic information. Chapter 1 delves into explaining the concepts of television programming, graphic information, and related design terminology. This chapter also provides a history of the formation and development of graphic information in general and graphic information for the television field in particular, both globally and in Vietnam. The characteristics, roles, and significance of graphic information are also presented in Chapter 1. Technically, Chapter 1 of the thesis also presents methods of displaying graphic information such as: data boxes, tables, graphs, charts (bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, etc.), maps, etc. For each different information content, the graphic journalist will filter and select a suitable method of presentation. In Chapter 2, the thesis mainly examines the current state of using graphic information in domestic television programs, including the 7 PM news bulletin and TCKD broadcast on VTV1, and a group of international programs including NHK's Newsline news bulletin, Arirang News, and Channel NewsAsia's Asia Today news bulletin. Through the survey of the aforementioned news reports, the author of this thesis compares the use of digital information between domestic and foreign channels and finds that digital information is used more frequently in domestic programs, mainly in the form of data boxes, with only a few using tables and diagrams. In foreign programs, digital information is used more extensively and diversely. Chapter 3 of the thesis presents some subjective opinions of the author to contribute to increasing the effectiveness of using digital information in television programs. These suggestions focus on methods of selecting content for graphic presentation and choosing appropriate graphic types for each piece of information. Furthermore, we also emphasize the issue of training human resources in the field of journalistic design in general and digital information in particular. 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: For world's broadcasting programs, graphics is a popular form of conveying information, which is exploited and used by television stations. However, it is an untapped field in Vietnam. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to provide journalists, people working in broadcasting field a theoretical system of television programs and information graphics. Chapter 1 aims to explain the concepts of television programs, information graphics and design-related terms. This thesis also mentions the history and development of information graphics in general and graphical information for the field of television around the world as well as in Vietnam. Characteristics, role and significance of graphical information are presented in Chapter 1 as well. Technically, the first chapter of the thesis presents the methods of expressing information graphics as: box information data, tables, graphs, charts (column, line, pie charts, wheels, etc.), map, etc. For each different information content, graphic reporter will screen, select a suitable method. In Chapter 2, the thesis mainly studies the status of using information graphics of television programs in the country including news bulletins 19h, financial and business news broadcast on VTV1 and groups of foreign programs including news reports News line of NHK, Arirang News and Asia Today News of Channel NewsAsia. Through the surveying of the abovementioned newsletters, the thesis aims to compare the use of information graphics between channel groups in the country and abroad and finds that information graphics used by many programs in the country are mainly in the form of box data information, only few information graphics are tables and diagrams. In the group of foreign programs, information graphics are more richly, widely and varyingly used. In chapter three, the thesis offers some subjective opinions of writer for the contribution to the increase of efficiency of the use of information graphics in Television programs. These proposed personal opinions focus on the methods of content selection for graphical presentation and how to select appropriate graphics for each information. In addition, the thesis also highlights the training of human resources issues in press design team and information graphics in particular. 11.
