Summary of Thesis Results: - Clarifying the development of international cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion over the past period. The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) International Cooperation Initiative is considered one of the most successful regional cooperation projects of its time. After 20 years of development, this initiative has proven its important role in the region and the world. Cooperation activities within the subregion have continuously expanded and developed, achieving many great accomplishments, contributing to promoting integration, strengthening infrastructure connectivity, improving human resource knowledge, and facilitating the development of transportation, trade, tourism, energy, etc. GMS cooperation is increasingly receiving attention and support from the international community as well as from the countries in the subregion. The difficulties and challenges faced by the participating parties are considerable. However, these issues can be overcome and resolved step by step. Entering the new decade 2012-2022, GMS countries continue to pursue new directions to further strengthen and promote comprehensive development. - Assessing the results and limitations of Vietnam in implementing sub-regional cooperation commitments. Vietnam has actively participated in GMS cooperation programs from the beginning and has also reaped significant benefits from cooperation. During the process, Vietnam has encountered both difficulties and advantages. However, Vietnam has always considered the GMS a crucial market, leveraging its geopolitical and geoeconomic advantages, young population structure, and potential to develop its strengths in implementing cooperation activities. The prospects for Vietnam's participation in international GMS cooperation are significant, long-term, and sustainable. - Proposing directions and solutions for the development of sub-regional cooperation in general, and for Vietnam in particular, in the coming period. It can be said that over the past 20 years, GMS development cooperation has made important contributions to the socio-economic development of all countries in the region. To further enhance the effectiveness of GMS cooperation to match the region's potential and advantages, in the coming period, GMS countries need to continue strengthening coordination and finding appropriate directions for cooperation mechanisms and frameworks. For its part, Vietnam always values ​​GMS cooperation mechanisms and will continue to closely coordinate with GMS countries as well as development partners to make more positive and concrete contributions towards the goal of sustainable development, peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Expected new contributions of the thesis: - Contributing to a more comprehensive assessment of the current state of international cooperation in the sub-region and Vietnam's participation. - Analyzing and attempting to clarify the orientations and solutions for developing international cooperation in the sub-region in general and for Vietnam in particular in the coming period. - Proposing solutions for Vietnam to maximize the effectiveness of cooperation. 11. Participation prospect of Vietnam in GMS international cooperation is very much, long-term and sustainable. - To propose orientations and solutions to Subregion cooperation development in general and Vietnam in particular in next time During over 20 years, GMS development cooperation has significantly contributed to social-economic development of all nations in the region. To enhance more effective cooperation of GMS suitable to potentiality and advantage of region, in the coming period, GMS countries need to continuously strengthen co-ordination, seek suitable orientation for mechanisms and cooperation framework. In terms of Vietnam, it always maintains respects GMS cooperation mechanisms and will continuously close co-ordinate with GMS countries as well as developed partner for more positive and particular contribution, forward to sustainable development, peace, stability and prosperity of the region. 10.
