11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
• This dissertation is the first scientific work in Vietnam to research the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam during the period 2001–2020.
• Based on clarifying the theoretical framework and practical context of international and regional factors impacting the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam, this thesis focuses on analyzing the policies and current state of implementation of higher education internationalization activities in Vietnam during the period 2001–2020, particularly at the national level. The results of the thesis contribute to a comprehensive assessment of the achievements, as well as the existing challenges, to the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam. From this, it offers some recommendations to promote this process in the future.
12. Future research directions: The author will continue to research the process of internationalization of higher education in Vietnam in the future, especially in the post-COVID-19 pandemic context, when the situation in the region and the world has undergone new, more complex changes, and has new demands.

• The thesis has explained the theoretical framework and practical basis (including different levels of context: global, regional, and national) that impact the process of implementing the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam. From a theoretical and practical perspective, systematic and comprehensive research has been conducted on analyzing the policies and implementation of internationalization of higher education in Vietnam in the period 2001-2020, especially at the national level. Based on the analysis and comprehensive assessment of the achieved results, as well as the existing problems and challenges of implementing the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam, the thesis has proposed some recommendations for Vietnam in order to promote this process in the future.
