11. Summary of new results of the thesis:

• The thesis is the first scientific work in Vietnam researching the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam in the period 2001 - 2020.
• Based on clarifying the theoretical framework and practical context of the international and regional impacts on the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam, the thesis focuses on analyzing the policies and current status of implementing internationalization activities of higher education in Vietnam in the period 2001 - 2020, especially at the national level. The results of the thesis contribute to a comprehensive assessment of the achievements, as well as the shortcomings and challenges for the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam. From there, some recommendations are made to promote this process in the coming time.

12. Further research directions: The author will continue to research the internationalization process of higher education in Vietnam in the coming time, especially in the context after the COVID-19 pandemic, when the situation in the region and the world has had new, more complex fluctuations, and has new demands.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
• The research is the first scientific work in Vietnam to study the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam during the period 2001 – 2020.
• The thesis has explained the theoretical framework and practical basis (including different levels of context: global, regional, and national) that impact the process of implementing the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam. From a theoretical and practical perspective, systematic and comprehensive research has been conducted on analyzing the policies and implementation of internationalization of higher education in Vietnam in the period 2001-2020, especially at the national level. Based on the analysis and comprehensive assessment of the achieved results, as well as the existing problems and challenges of implementing the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam, the thesis has proposed some recommendations for Vietnam in order to promote this process in the future.
12. Further research directions: The author will continue to study the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam in the future, especially in the context of the post-COVID-19 pandemic, when the situation in the region and the world has seen many new and complex changes.
