This thesis focuses on researching and presenting the following basic results:

Chapter 1 – an overview of the thesis "Using Video in Multimedia Journalism," focuses on addressing some general theories regarding video in multimedia journalism. It presents the most basic concepts of video, multimedia journalism, online journalism, and the characteristics of online journalism, multimedia journalism, and its components. Chapter 1 also outlines the role of video in multimedia journalism on Vietnamese online newspapers today, highlighting how video makes journalistic works more lively, engaging, objective, and authentic, providing high-quality and reliable information. Furthermore, video increases revenue for media organizations by boosting views through multimedia journalistic works.

Chapter 2 provides a general overview of the three online news sites under survey: Vnexpress.net, Vietnamnet.vn, and Vietnamplus.vn. The thesis is based on a survey of the quantity and frequency of video use in multimedia journalistic works on these three sites to identify the advantages and successes of using video in multimedia journalism, highlighting its effectiveness in providing informational value to the public and readers. The thesis also outlines specific standards for video content in online newspapers, including requirements for content and form, as well as the current video production process and skills for online newspapers. Chapter 2 also points out the limitations of video in current multimedia journalistic works, both in terms of content and presentation methods. Based on the successes and limitations of using video in multimedia journalism on current online newspapers, the author argues that improving the quality and effectiveness of video use is crucial and necessary for each newspaper in particular and media organizations in general.

In Chapter 3, based on practical research and analysis of audience opinions from Chapter 2, the author proposes several solutions to improve the quality of video in multimedia journalistic works in particular, and in specific journalistic works in general. By affirming that the trend of multimedia journalism is inevitable, a development of journalism intertwined with the development of science and technology, the author offers solutions to improve video quality in terms of content, form, and execution methods. To achieve this, reporters, editors, and technicians in media organizations, especially online newspapers, need to cultivate and improve their professional skills to become multimedia journalists, capable of proficiently using technological equipment to best serve their work. To achieve this, news organizations must embrace technology and constantly innovate, regularly surveying their target audiences to promptly meet the public's information needs and create new and engaging content in each news article.

11. Practical applications:

With this topic, the thesis has significant importance in contributing to the supplementation and development of the theoretical system of video in multimedia journalism on Vietnamese online newspapers today. Therefore, if successfully completed, the topic could become a reference document for press agencies, online news agencies, reporters, editors, technicians, or even journalism students still in school. It provides practical data, creating a basis for leaders of media agencies, reporters, editors, and those directly producing videos in multimedia journalism today.

If circumstances permit, this thesis could also open up many avenues for further research on issues related to video in multimedia journalism on online newspapers, especially in today's convergent media environment. The thesis points out several findings as follows:

In Chapter 1 – Overview of the subject "Using videos in works of multimedia journalism", the author intends to solve some general theory on videos in works of multimedia journalism, providing the most basic concepts of video, works of multimedia journalism, electronic newspaper, and characteristics of electronic newspaper, multimedia journalism and components of multimedia journalism. Chapter 1 of the thesis also highlights the role of video in works of multimedia journalism, in electronic newspapers in Vietnam at present, such as helping make works of journalism more vivid, more interesting, more objective and more authentic, information more quality and reliable. Video also helps increase income for press agencies by increasing the number of views through the works of multimedia journalism.

In Chapter 2, the author provides the most general outline of the three online newspapers under survey, namely Vnexpress.net, Vietnamnet.vn, Vietnamplus.vn. The thesis, based on a survey of the number and frequency of using videos in works of multimedia journalism in the three newspapers Vnexpress.net, Vietnamnet.vn, Vietnamplus.vn, draws out the advantages, successes of using videos in works of multimedia journalism by providing the public and readers with news values, as well as specific standards for a video work on electronic newspapers, requirements for content, form, procedure and skills at making videos on electronic newspapers today. Chapter of the thesis points out the limitations of video in the current works of multimedia journalism in terms of both content and form of presentation. From drawing out the success and limitations of using videos in works of multimedia journalism in electronic newspapers today, the author assumes that it is very important and necessary to improve the quality and efficiency in using videos for press agencies in general and for each newspaper in particular.

In Chapter 3, based on the practical survey, summation analysis viewers' opinions in Chapter 2, the author proposes several solutions to improve the quality of work of journalism in general and of work of multimedia journalism in particular. From determining that the tendency of multimedia journalism is inevitable, that the development of journalism is closely associated with the development of science and, the author brings forward solutions to improve the quality of videos in both content and form, as well as methods of presenting. Based on that, reporters, editors, technicians in press agencies, particularly electronic newspapers should improve their professional skills to become multimedia journalists capable of using expertly technological devices to best serve their operational process. To do so, press agencies must have a good grasp of technology, keep innovating, surveying the public in order to promptly meet the need to seek for information of the public, thus creating fresh fascination in each piece of news.

11. Practical applicability:

With this subject, the thesis is of great significance in helping to supplement and develop the theoretical system of videos in works of multimedia journalism in electronic newspapers of Vietnam at present. Therefore, if successfully carried out, the subject may serve as a reference for press agencies, online newspapers, reporters, editors, technicians or students pursuing journalism; provide practical data, lay the foundation for leaders of broadcasting and news agencies, reporters, editors, those who are directly involved in making videos in works of multimedia journalism at present.

If conditions permit, from this thesis, there will probably be further researches on the video-related issues in works of multimedia journalism in electronic newspapers, particularly in the present converged communications environment.
