In chapter 1 - overview of the topic "Using video in multimedia journalism", the author focuses on solving some general theories about video in multimedia journalism. Providing the most basic concepts about video, multimedia journalism, electronic newspapers and the characteristics of electronic newspapers, multimedia journalism and components of multimedia journalism. Chapter 1 of the thesis also presents the role of video in multimedia journalism works in Vietnamese electronic newspapers today such as video helps journalism works to be more vivid, attractive, more objective and authentic, quality and reliable information, video also increases revenue for press agencies by increasing views through multimedia journalism works.

In chapter 2, the author introduces the most general overview of the 3 online newspapers under the survey, namely Vnexpress.net, Vietnamnet.vn, Vietnamplus.vn. The thesis is based on a survey of the quantity and frequency of video use in multimedia journalism works on the 3 newspapers Vnexpress.net, Vietnamnet.vn, Vietnamplus.vn to draw out the advantages and successes of using video in multimedia journalism works through bringing information values ​​to the public and readers. The thesis also provides specific standards for a video work on electronic newspapers, requirements for content and form, as well as the current video production process on electronic newspapers. Chapter 2 of the thesis also points out the limitations of video in current multimedia journalism works in terms of both content and expression methods. In chapter 3, based on practical research and analysis of audience opinions in chapter 2, the author proposes a number of solutions to improve the quality of videos in multimedia journalism works in particular, and in specific journalism works in general. From affirming that the trend of multimedia journalism is inevitable, that the development of journalism goes hand in hand with the development of science and technology, the author proposes solutions to improve the quality of videos in terms of content, form and implementation methods. To do so, the team of reporters, editors, and technicians in press agencies, especially electronic newspapers, also need to cultivate their professional skills to become multimedia journalists, capable of proficiently using technological equipment to best serve their work process. To do so, press agencies must grasp technology and constantly innovate, regularly survey public audiences to promptly meet the public's need for information, creating new appeal in providing information in each news article.

With this topic, the thesis has an important meaning in contributing to supplementing and developing the theoretical system of videos in multimedia journalism works in Vietnamese electronic newspapers today. In Chapter 1 – Overview of the subject "Using videos in works of multimedia journalism", the author intends to solve some general theory on videos in works of multimedia journalism, providing the most basic concepts of video, works of multimedia journalism, electronic newspaper, and characteristics of electronic newspaper, multimedia journalism and components of multimedia journalism. Chapter 1 of the thesis also highlights the role of video in works of multimedia journalism, in electronic newspapers in Vietnam at present, such as helping make works of journalism more vivid, more interesting, more objective and more authentic, information more quality and reliable. Video also helps increase income for press agencies by increasing the number of views through the works of multimedia journalism.

In Chapter 3, based on the practical survey, summation analysis viewers' opinions in Chapter 2, the author proposes several solutions to improve the quality of work of journalism in general and of work of multimedia journalism in particular. From determining that the tendency of multimedia journalism is inevitable, that the development of journalism is closely associated with the development of science and, the author brings forward solutions to improve the quality of videos in both content and form, as well as methods of presenting. Based on that, reporters, editors, technicians in press agencies, particularly electronic newspapers should improve their professional skills to become multimedia journalists capable of using expertly technological devices to best serve their operational process. To do so, press agencies must have a good grasp of technology, keep innovating, surveying the public in order to promptly meet the need to seek for information of the public, thus creating fresh fascination in each piece of news.

With this subject, the thesis is of great significance in helping to supplement and develop the theoretical system of videos in works of multimedia journalism in electronic newspapers of Vietnam at present.
