The purpose of the research project "Organizing the production of Mega stories of electronic newspapers: Some theoretical issues and applied solutions" is of great significance, to study and widely disseminate this new type of journalism. From there, lessons can be drawn for how electronic journalism works can attract more readers in the current internet environment where readers must share. At the same time, the project also investigates and studies the mass media audience in interaction with electronic newspapers and the Mega story genre on electronic newspapers. To make a correct assessment, the author of the thesis conducts a survey, summarizes, describes, and analyzes the general reading public of electronic newspapers and Mega stories in Hanoi through a survey in July 2019 based on research questions. From the study of the Mega story genre, the author of the thesis has clarified the content, form, production method, and level of reader interaction with this new journalism genre.
The production of Mega story works has many similarities and differences with other journalism genres in terms of content and form such as: Title, sapo, content are all journalism genres. However, the content of Mega story is very specialized in the style of a magazine. The presentation of Mega story is very special, it is a combination of other journalism genres such as text, video, sound, images, graphics, etc. Therefore, when producing this new journalism genre, it requires not only a large investment in time, human resources and finance but also a journalistic mindset. Therefore, the number of works and press agencies in Vietnam producing this genre is still quite modest.
On the other hand, the thesis also studies more clearly the level of public reception of Mega stories on electronic newspapers is extremely high with 55% to 56% of readers following daily, 35% to 36% several times a week. If calculated in total, this number corresponds to about 90% to 91% of readers of Mega stories on electronic newspapers.
The recommendations in the thesis are drawn from a medium-scale study, surveying the public in Hanoi, so they are only suggestive and need to be further discussed and researched at higher levels. At the same time, they contribute better to the development of the Mega story genre in electronic newspapers in our country.
