Summary of thesis results: This study investigates the difficulties and adaptation of free migrants from rural areas to urban areas in their new work environment. Survey results show that migrants face few difficulties in finding employment, but they encounter many obstacles when they first start working in Hanoi, as well as currently. With low educational levels and almost no professional training, most free migrants have to work in the informal economy with unstable jobs. When they first start working, high competition, limited income, and getting lost are major difficulties for them. In addition, they also face difficulties such as dangerous work and work that does not meet expectations. To date, difficulties such as high competition and arduous work still hinder migrants. Over time, the number of migrants to the city increases, and job competition intensifies. In addition, free migrants also face discrimination and verbal abuse from their employers, which are challenging factors that test their ability to adapt. Depending on gender, education level, and age, migrants face different difficulties. Initially, some migrants resisted by changing professions or finding additional work. However, over time, the percentage of those who accepted and endured the hardships increased. Overcoming these difficulties to stay in Hanoi is both an effort and a reflection of the adaptability of free migrants to the harsh working environment in Hanoi. 11. Practical application: The study has highlighted the difficulties faced by free migrants as well as their ability to adapt. This suggests that government authorities better understand their difficulties and develop more appropriate programs and policies to ensure the rights of migrants. 12.
