Summary of thesis results: - Based on exploiting original historical sources on the Nguyen Dynasty combined with statistical methods, the thesis has constructed a relatively accurate picture of the reality of corruption during the Nguyen Dynasty period 1802-1884. - It analyzes the comprehensive and holistic solutions of the Nguyen Dynasty in preventing and combating corruption during the period 1802-1884, focusing on four main solutions: moral education for officials according to Confucian thought; reform of the state administrative apparatus; clear and reasonable policies for recruiting, employing, and rewarding officials; and measures to punish acts of corruption. Furthermore, the thesis highlights the similarities and differences between the methods and measures for preventing, detecting, and handling corruption employed by the Nguyen Dynasty and other Vietnamese feudal dynasties throughout history, as well as by the feudal state of China. It draws practical lessons for the current fight against corruption in Vietnam. 11. Practical applications: In addition to assisting management agencies in formulating strategic directions for anti-corruption efforts in Vietnam, the thesis also provides additional reference materials for colleagues in research and teaching on the history of the Vietnamese state and law. 12.
