Adjustment of the training plan for the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Based on Official Letter No. 1179/ĐHQGHN-CT&CTHSSV dated April 27, 2021, from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, regarding the continued strengthening of COVID-19 prevention and control measures; and given the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities requests that all units inform lecturers and students of the following key points:

1. Regarding the training plan

The training plan for the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University will be conducted online from May 4, 2021 until further notice.

2. Regarding online teaching platforms

It is agreed to use a Learning Management System (LMS) accessible at https://ussh.upm.com.vn to organize teaching and learning and manage teaching and learning activities. Instructors need to develop teaching and learning content according to a weekly schedule to facilitate monitoring, supervision, and management of the training process by relevant departments. In addition, instructors can combine the LMS software with free real-time teaching and learning software such as ZOOM, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, etc., for teaching and learning.

3. General principles for conducting online teaching and learning.

3.1 The teaching content must meet the following requirements:

- Course Information: This section should convey information about the course, including at a minimum clear objectives, regulations and encouragement from the instructor for students during the learning process, regulations regarding examinations and assessments, as well as assignment or test formats, and guidance to help students study the course effectively.

- Course content: The course content is organized into weekly themes, closely following the objectives and teaching-learning progress of the course.

- Announcements: Providing students with guidance on academic tasks throughout the semester and on a weekly basis to promote student initiative and to assess their learning attitude and attendance level.

- Learning materials: Provide complete information about the course materials and lecture notes (files). Instructors are encouraged to provide readily available learning materials (files) to students.

- Assignments: Regularly assign homework to assess students' self-study progress.

- Forum: Organize topics for students to discuss on a forum. Implement professional measures to ensure students fully participate in the discussions.

- Organize real-time virtual classrooms (Real Time Conference): Real-time teaching and learning activities should be recorded as videos so that students can review the material and for convenient monitoring and management to ensure quality.

3.2 Instructors are responsible for the content they publish on online teaching and learning platforms and must publicly disclose the regulations regarding the tasks students must complete when participating in the course.

4. Regarding the form of examination and evaluation

4.1 For the first 7 and 10-week teaching and learning modules, where sufficient time has been allocated according to the schedule: The school requests that heads of units agree on appropriate assessment methods in the current context and report to the school on the assessment methods for each module before May 8, 2021. Assessment must be conducted rigorously and in accordance with the learning outcomes of the module.

4.2 For the following 7-week and 15-week teaching and learning modules: The school will assess the evolving situation of the pandemic and provide specific announcements at an appropriate time.

5. Quality assurance work

To ensure that online teaching and learning is conducted seriously, systematically, with quality and effectiveness, the University assigns the heads of units, through the heads of departments and faculty training assistants, the responsibility to supervise and monitor the implementation of online teaching and learning for courses under their management; the Training Department is responsible for managing and supervising online teaching and learning for common courses taught by units within Hanoi National University; and the Inspection and Legal Affairs Department is responsible for checking and monitoring the implementation of the teaching timetable of all units in the University based on the timetable provided by the Training Department.
