Summary of thesis results: To meet the Party's goal of striving to make Vietnam an industrialized country by 2020, the quality of human resources must be continuously improved. An important question here is whether the balance of human resources in various professions is appropriate or not? The thesis "The Influence of Career Guidance Education in Schools on the Choice of Professions of High School Students in Hanoi Today" will contribute to answering this question. The research results of the thesis indicate that after graduating from high school, students tend to choose the path of university or college instead of vocational school or vocational training, and their choice of major is largely based on career value: fields with job opportunities and high income. As a consequence, many graduates cannot find jobs or work in fields unrelated to their majors, while society is lacking a highly skilled workforce. This can be explained by several factors: The expansion of the university training network has given students more opportunities to attend; on the other hand, the emphasis on academic degrees among parents has somewhat influenced students' career choices; and most importantly, career guidance in high schools has not effectively fulfilled its role, failing to provide proper direction in students' career choices. Survey data shows that school career guidance activities have little influence on students' career choices. The reasons for the lack of effectiveness in career guidance are the limited time allocated, the lack of specialized training for career counseling teachers, insufficient teaching equipment for career guidance, the general nature of career guidance content, and the limited diversity of career guidance methods. Based on an analysis of the current state of career guidance, career choice trends, and the influence of career education on students' career choices, we propose several solutions to improve the effectiveness of career guidance activities, helping students to make informed career choices for the future.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: To meet our Party's goal of striving to become an industrialized country for 2020, it is required that our human resources must be improved. There is a question that: Is there a balance of human resources between industries? The subject: “The impact of vocational education in high schools on the selection of courses of its students in Hanoi at this time” may support to uncover this problem. Many recent researches found that after graduating high school students tend to choose to study at a university or a college instead of attending vocational or training center and selection of course is largely based on professional values: job opportunities and high salary. As a result, many graduates can not get jobs or leave the industry while society is the lack of high-skilled labor force. It can be explained by a number of reasons, such as the expansion of higher education network so that students have more opportunities to study; otherwise the psychology of the importance of degree in their parents' minds are somewhat affecting the choice of student occupations; the most importance is due to the work of vocational guidance in high schools have not made better career role, without the proper orientation in career choice of students. Indicates show that the school's vocational activities have not much influence on the career choice of students.Vocational activities are not effective because of lack of vocational time, teachers have not been trained in vocational counseling, vocational training equipment missing, vocational contents are too general and not varied forms. With the analysis of the current status of the work of career, job selection trends and the impact of vocational education on the student's career choice, we suggest here some solutions to improve the efficiency of vocational activities and to help students get on the right direction in the career choice for the future.
