Summary of the results of the thesis: To meet the Party's goal of striving to become an industrialized country by 2020, the quality of human resources must be increasingly improved. An important question here is whether the balance of human resources in different occupations is appropriate or not? The topic "The impact of career education in schools on the choice of occupations of high school students in Hanoi today" will contribute to answering this question. The research results of the topic show that after graduating from high school, students tend to choose the path of university or college instead of going to vocational secondary school or vocational school and the choice of major is largely based on career value: majors with high job opportunities and income. As a result, many students cannot find jobs after graduation or work in the wrong field while society is lacking a highly skilled workforce. This can be explained by many factors: The expansion of the university training network gives students more opportunities to study; on the other hand, the parents' mentality of valuing degrees has somewhat affected students' career choices; more importantly, career guidance in high schools has not performed its role well, and there is no proper orientation in students' career choices. Survey data shows that the school's career guidance activities do not have much influence on students' career choices. The reason why career guidance activities are not effective is because the time for career guidance is short, the teaching staff has not been trained in depth in career guidance, the equipment for teaching career guidance is still lacking, the content of career guidance is still general, and the form of career guidance is not diverse. From analyzing the current situation of career guidance, career choice trends and the impact of career education on students' career choices, we propose some solutions to improve the effectiveness of career guidance activities to help students have the right orientation in choosing a career for the future.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: To meet our Party's goal of striving to become an industrialized country for 2020, it is required that our human resources must be improved. There is a question that: Is there a balance of human resources between industries? The subject: “The impact of vocational education in high schools on the selection of courses of its students in Hanoi at this time” may support to uncover this problem. Many recent researches found that after graduating high school students tend to choose to study at a university or a college instead of attending vocational or training center and selection of course is largely based on professional values: job opportunities and high salary. As a result, many graduates can not get jobs or leave the industry while society is the lack of high-skilled labor force. It can be explained by a number of reasons, such as the expansion of higher education network so that students have more opportunities to study; otherwise the psychology of the importance of degree in their parents' minds are somewhat affecting the choice of student occupations; the most importance is due to the work of vocational guidance in high schools have not made better career role, without the proper orientation in career choice of students. Indicates show that the school's vocational activities have not much influence on the career choice of students.Vocational activities are not effective because of lack of vocational time, teachers have not been trained in vocational counseling, vocational training equipment missing, vocational contents are too general and not varied forms. With the analysis of the current status of the work of career, job selection trends and the impact of vocational education on the student's career choice, we suggest here some solutions to improve the efficiency of vocational activities and to help students get on the right direction in the career choice for the future.
