The thesis focuses on researching, surveying, and reconstructing a comprehensive picture of the history of the formation and development of the Chinese community in Hai Phong city in terms of politics, economy, culture, and society. From there, the position, role, and contribution of the Chinese community to the formation and development of Hai Phong city in History are determined. At the same time, the thesis also focuses on describing the political upheavals and the repatriation of the Chinese community in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century as well as studying the kinship relationships of generations of Vietnamese people of Chinese origin remaining in Hai Phong city with their families and relatives in China in the current reality of life; affirming the diversity and richness in the cultural life of the resident groups of Hai Phong city in the new century.

At the same time, the thesis also focuses on describing the political upheaval and repatriation of the Chinese community in the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century as well as learning about the kinship of the Chinese Vietnamese generations who still stay in Hai Phong city with family, relatives in China in real life today, and affirming the diversity and richness in cultural life of groups of residents of Hai Phong city in the new century.
