From this, it identifies the position, role, and contributions of the Chinese community to the formation and development of Hai Phong city throughout history. Simultaneously, the thesis also focuses on describing the political upheavals and the repatriation of the Chinese community in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as exploring the kinship ties between the generations of ethnic Chinese Vietnamese remaining in Hai Phong city and their families and relatives in China in contemporary life; affirming the diversity and richness of the cultural life of the various population groups in Hai Phong city in the new century.

The thesis focuses on researching, surveying and preserving a comprehensive picture of formation and development of the Chinese community in Hai Phong city's history on the political, economic, cultural and social aspects. Since then we can determine the position, role and contribution of the Chinese community to the formation and development of Hai Phong city in history. At the same time, the thesis also focuses on describing the political upheaval and repatriation of the Chinese community in the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century as well as learning about the kinship of the Chinese Vietnamese generations who still stay in Hai Phong city with family, relatives in China in real life today, and affirming the diversity and richness in cultural life of groups of residents of Hai Phong city in the new century.
