10. Summary of the results of the thesis:
Suicidal behavior in adults with depression is a mental illness that directly affects the life and spirit of the client.
Through the overall research and the process of implementing direct clinical support and therapy on adult clients with suicidal behavior and depressive disorders, we found that the problem of depression in adults with suicidal thoughts and attempts in clients is very noteworthy. For adults with depressive disorders and especially with suicidal behavior, clients need to have counseling and psychotherapy sessions to help reduce suicidal thoughts in clients as well as reduce symptoms of depression.
Based on theoretical research as well as the results of evaluation on clients after support and clinical supervision, we see the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral activation techniques in supporting clients with suicidal behavior, helping clients replace false beliefs about self-image, failure in relationships, and worries about having no purpose in life by forming and implementing activities that benefit themselves, raising awareness of their own problems, and self-regulating their own behavior and emotions.
11. Practical application:
Suicidal behavior in adults with depression has a serious impact on clients. When clients have depression, suicidal thoughts and repeated suicide attempts are very common. These clients suffer from many negative physical and psychological changes, making their intentions to end their lives stronger. Therefore, for suicidal behavior in adults with depression, it is necessary to have psychological therapies to support clients to end suicidal thoughts and reduce symptoms of depression. And cognitive behavioral therapy, including behavioral activation techniques, can provide good support for clients with suicidal and depressed behavior. Cognitive behavioral therapy has a solid theory, has been researched and practiced to be effective on clients with depression and suicidal thoughts, and can be easily applied in clinical psychology practice.
