10. Summary of the thesis results:

Depression is the leading cause of suicide (75% of suicide cases are due to depression), most commonly occurring in severe depression with paranoia (belief that one is guilty and unworthy of living).

Based on theoretical research on postpartum depression and the assessment and intervention of a postpartum depression case in a woman hospitalized at the Central Psychiatric Hospital No. 1, we aim to contribute to raising awareness about postpartum depression. This study provides timely psychological assessment and intervention for women suffering from postpartum depression, minimizing risks for themselves and their families.

 11. Practical applications:

For pregnant women, childbirth is a natural function and also a crucial stage in a woman's life. Childbirth is also considered a traumatic event; after giving birth, mothers undergo significant physiological and psychological changes, especially psychological changes that require women to gradually adapt both physically and mentally.

Postpartum psychological disorders in women, primarily anxiety and depression, are currently receiving insufficient attention and timely treatment in Vietnam. Both the women themselves and society tend to avoid discussing this issue. Therefore, care for mothers with postpartum psychological disorders is largely neglected. Intervention methods are not widely applied in society, while psychological support and non-pharmacological approaches are crucial for individuals with psychological disorders in general, and postpartum women in particular. The role of clinical psychologists in community clinics and hospitals is essential. Collaborative work between psychologists, psychiatrists, obstetricians, family doctors, and families in caring for postpartum women is extremely important in alleviating symptoms, preventing medication abuse, and raising community awareness about protecting and caring for the mental and physical health of the general population, especially postpartum women.

12. Future research directions:

If we have the time and resources, we will expand the scope of our research to help more women with postpartum depression and provide them with preventative measures.
