The thesis outlines fundamental theoretical issues concerning online journalism and its unique advantages, the environment, readers and reader comments on online newspapers, current environmental issues in Vietnam, and the Party and State's policies on environmental matters. It addresses the impact of environmental pollution on society and the necessity of involvement from relevant agencies and the press.
Characterized by its multimedia nature, online newspapers will be one of the effective methods for social critique. Its features include: multimedia capabilities (it can simultaneously provide information through text, still images, animations, audio, charts, tables, etc.), high interactivity (the public can easily provide feedback directly under each article), large information storage capacity (works are not limited in storage and are easily searchable), and non-periodic information (continuously updated 24/7, not limited by geographical distance)...
However, the modern online media environment takes many forms such as social networks, online newspapers, blogs, forums, etc., with various purposes. Therefore, in the current context, managing commentary in the press is a "hot" issue in contemporary Vietnamese media. Firstly, online media management has created online forums that reflect and shape public opinion, while also providing important guidance for competent authorities to make sound decisions in socio-political life.
Secondly, the impact of these articles goes beyond simply agreeing with or disagreeing with negative public opinion regarding environmental pollution or decisions made by regulatory agencies. They demonstrate that in modern Vietnamese society, the role and existence of social critique is essential and forms the basis for establishing a highly democratic society.
Thirdly, the regulations, decisions, bills, and policies of the state are completely transparent to the entire society, and everyone can participate openly in providing direct feedback.
Fourth, social critique on online newspapers is a communication process in which both the subject and the object of critique must have good intentions for the process to be effective.
The thesis also draws on experiences in managing online media comments in general and environmental pollution from a positive perspective, leading to suggestions on how to effectively manage online media comments and create public opinion to promote social development in general and to raise awareness of the environment.
