10. Summary of thesis results:
In the process of surveying data to conduct the research, we found that the behavior of complimenting and receiving compliments provided enough data to serve the research process. Therefore, in the scope of this thesis, we do not study some linguistic behaviors but only focus on studying the behavior of complimenting and receiving compliments.
The thesis includes 3 chapters:
Chapter 1: Theoretical basis
Chapter 2: The thesis presents ways of complimenting as well as models and structures of direct compliments and indirect compliments of Vietnamese people and Lao Military Academy students (through survey results). The errors that appear in the complimenting behavior in Vietnamese of Lao Military Academy students are pragmatic errors, lexical errors and grammatical errors. In pragmatic errors, errors of mixed use“metaphorical” vs. “complimentary”mixed use errornarrative praise" with "how to ask for compliments" and misuse "way of praising hypothetical behavior, wishes"In direct and indirect compliments, these are the types of mistakes that learners make the most. The reason for making mistakes is that learners do not yet fully understand the ways of complimenting in Vietnamese, which leads to confusion and incorrect use of compliments, leading to compliments not being as desired. The mistakes in compliments are interference errors and target-language errors.
Chapter 3: The thesis has presented the ways and structures of receiving compliments of Vietnamese people and Lao Military Academy. In which, the ways of receiving compliments of Vietnamese people are 8 ways; the ways of receiving compliments in Vietnamese of Lao Military Academy (through survey results) are 7 ways. The structures of receiving compliments in Vietnamese are 10 structures, and the structures of receiving compliments in Vietnamese of Lao Military Academy (through survey results) are 8 structures. In which, the ways of receiving compliments of Lao people do not appear "way of receiving without responding to compliments”. And the Laotian students' structure of receiving compliments does not exist.“the structure of diversion and the structure of silence”. As well as the errors in the compliment behavior of Lao students, the errors in the compliment reception behavior that the thesis received were pragmatic errors, vocabulary errors and grammatical errors. The two types of errors that students made the most were: Errors in using combinations"affirmation" and "negation"in the same response and error behavior using “wayunderstatementand "way of affirming” in the same response behavior. The reason for the error is that learners do not have a firm grasp of the ways of receiving compliments in Vietnamese, leading to the combination of ways as well as inconsistent structures in the reception. The errors in the compliment reception behavior of HVQSL are similar to the errors in compliment behavior, which are interference errors and target-language errors.
The novelty of the topic is to study the issue of complimenting behavior and receiving complimenting behavior through a specific subject: Laotian military students studying Vietnamese in a military environment (Group 871 - General Department of Politics). This is a special environment that has significantly affected the students' acquisition of the target language.
11. Practical application:
The research results of the thesis will be practical documents for teachers, helping to improve the quality of Vietnamese language learning for foreigners in general and for the Military Academy in particular at Group 871; at the same time, the research also shows the subtleties that express the unique linguistic and cultural identity in communication and behavior of Vietnamese people, highlighting the beauty of the language and national voice in the perception of Lao students as well as foreigners when studying and interacting with Vietnamese.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
In the course of the survey data to conduct project work, we found, acts and receiving commendation compliment behavior has provided enough data to be able to serve the research process. So within this thesis, we have not studied some language behavior research focus acts and receiving commendation compliment behavior.
The thesis comprises of 03 chapters:
Chapter 1: Foundation
Chapter 2: In the thesis, the author expresses the manner, model and structure of direct or indirect compliments given by Vietnamese people and Laotian military students (on the basis of survey results). Faults in praises in Vietnamese language of Laotian military students are pragmatic, lexical and grammatical mistakes. For pragmatic faults, mixed use between“metaphoric expression”and“interrogation for commendation”,between“explicit compliment”and“interrogation for commendation”as well as wrong use of“compliment for expectations”in direct or indirect praise are popular. They result from unsolid knowledge about use of compliment in Vietnamese language called interlingual error and intralingual errors.
Chapter 3: The thesis has released structures and methods of commendation receipt of Vietnamese people and of Laotian military students. In which, the number of methods of commendation receipt of Vietnamese people is 8; and the number of methods of commendation receipt in Vietnamese of Laos military students (on the basis of survey results) is 7. Commendation receipt of Vietnamese people and receipt of compliment in Vietnamese language of Laotian Military Students consist of 10 structures and 8 structures, respectively. In which, the methods of Commendation receipt of Laos people are not included“Receiving commendation by not responding to compliments”, and structure of Commendation receipt of Laos students is not included“the structure of diverting the conversation and structure of silence”.Like errors of commendation behavior of Laotian students, the errors of commendation receipt that the thesis has collected include pragmatics errors, vocabulary errors and grammar errors. Two errors that students make more than all others are combination of“affirmative”and“Negative”sentences in one response, and errors of using“euphemism”andAffirmationin one response. Errors result from student's misunderstanding methods of commendation receipt in Vietnamese, thus they often combine inconsistent methods and structures in their response. Errors of commendation receipt of Laos Military Students are also the same as those of commendation behavior, interlingual errors and intralingual errors.
The new things of the research into commendation behavior and commendation receipt via Laos Military Students who are learning Vietnamese in Army environment (Unit 871 - General Political Department of the People's Army of Vietnam). The author finds out vocabulary errors, grammar errors and pragmatics errors by comparing to Vietnamese structure model in order to find the errors of commendation behavior and commendation receipt.
11. Applicability in practice:
Findings of the thesis will become practical materials to students which assists in improving Vietnamese learning quality of foreigners in general and of the Laotian Military Students in particular in the Unit 871; and the research also presents fineness which shows special and unique language – cultural identities while communicating and behaving of Vietnamese people, highlighting good points of Vietnamese language through perception of the Laotian students as well as foreigners during learning and contacting with Vietnamese.
