The thesis has analyzed and clarified the issues in the East Sea. In particular, the thesis has focused on analyzing the interests of the United States in this region.

The thesis also focuses on clarifying the US's Asia pivot strategy. Analyzes and points out the position and interaction of the East Sea issue in the US's Asia pivot strategy. Points out the US's policies on the East Sea issue in the period from 2009 to 2015.

Based on the analysis from Chapters 1 and 2, the thesis has initially summarized and forecasted the main trends in US policy towards the East Sea issue, thereby recommending a number of solutions to the East Sea issue for Vietnam, in order to contribute to the struggle to maintain the sovereignty of the Fatherland and maintain a peaceful and friendly environment in the region.

The thesis performs a thorough analysis about South China Sea and its relevant issues. More specifically, the thesis focuses on the US's national interest in this area.

The thesis puts emphasis on “Rebalancing to Asia – Pacific Region Strategy” of the America; analysing, defining the role and effect of South China Sea in this strategy. In addition, the thesis also examines some America's policies about South China Sea between 2009 and 2015.
