- This thesis explores the types of female characters from ethnic minorities in five short story collections: "Stories from Co Sau Valley," "Human-Shaped Clouds," "Flowers Flying at the End of the Sky," "The Old House by the Stream," and "Market People" by writer Cao Duy Son.

- This study explores the creative trends and innovative exploration in the content and artistry of Cao Duy Son's short stories to reveal the innovation in short stories about the mountainous regions of Vietnam during the đổi mới (renovation) period. Simultaneously, it compares his works with those of other contemporary writers on ethnic minority themes to discover unique and novel aspects and affirm his role and contribution to national literature.

This study is designed to learn about ethnic minority women through short stories by Cao Duy Son, namely "Stories from Co Sau Valley", "Clouds in Human Shapes", "Flowers Flying at the End of the Sky", "The Old House by the Stream", and "The Dog".

- This study also aims at exploiting the creativity and innovation in content and artistic value of Cao Duy Son's short stories to show the renovation in stories on the theme of mountainous area in Economic Reform Period in Vietnam. At the same time, the research compares and contrasts Cao Duy Son's works with those of other writers who wrote about this topic to find out the originality and to praise the important role of Cao Duy Son in Vietnamese literature.
