The thesis has aimed to fully understand not only the position and meaning of the female characters in the writer's works but also through that to better understand the concept imbued with the humanitarian spirit of romantic art about people. Also on that general orientation, the author of the thesis will try to connect the female characters in V. Hugo's novels with the female characters in Vietnamese romantic novels to see the common social and aesthetic values of romantic literature.
The thesis also clarifies the artistic values of romantic literature in building the image of female characters.

Application in teaching literature in high schools and in studying literary works of V. Hugo.

The thesis raised awareness of the importance of woman characters in Victor Hugo's masterpieces, hence keeping up the human spirit throughout romance works. By this way, the author of the thesis tried to relate women in Victor Hugo's novels to characters form romantic Vietnamese novels so that the typical beauty values in romantic literary creations were put under high emphasis.
In addition, the thesis underlined artistic values of romantic writings by characterizing series of women's images.
