The thesis aims to point out the expression and method of Russian national identity at different levels and aspects in A. Chekhov's short stories. Specifically, the thesis exploits the following contents:

- Russian national identity in A. Chekhov's short stories from the perspective of characters and space. From there we explain the writer's way of thinking about the world and people in relation to the national cultural tradition.
