The thesis achieved the following results: 1. It provided an overview of the political and social situation and the Catholic faith during the resistance war against the American imperialist invasion, especially under the Second Republic. 2. The thesis analyzed, clarified, and classified the forms of patriotic struggle of Vietnamese Catholics in Saigon: i) Patriotic struggle movements influenced by the Party; ii) Patriotic struggle movements led by progressive Catholics; iii) The "return to the nation" movement. 3. The thesis identified the fundamental causes, significance, role, and historical lessons of the patriotic struggle movement of Vietnamese Catholics.

11. Practical applications:

Before becoming believers, Catholics were already Vietnamese people with shared traditional cultural values, including patriotism and brotherhood. In each specific historical period, this tradition was strongly revived and promoted. In the current period, as the country enters a new chapter of history, opening up and integrating, the need for national unity is becoming increasingly important. From a historical perspective, studying the patriotic movement during the Second Republic, this thesis aims to find the foundations and positive values ​​to contribute to building the path of "walking alongside the nation" for Catholics, a goal currently encouraged and promoted by the Vietnamese Party and State.

12. Future research directions:

Continuing the study of Catholicism after 1975 on its integration and companionship with the nation in the new socialist environment in South Vietnam as well as after the Doi Moi (Renovation) period (1986).

The thesis points out the underlying cause, the meaning, role and historical lesson of the patriotic movement of Catholics in Vietnam.

12. Practical applicability:

Before becoming a religious, Catholics are Vietnamese who have many common characters about traditional cultural values, in which is patriotic tradition. In each particular historical period, that was aroused and promoted. In the contemporary when the country entered a new historical page, ethnic solidarity requirements are becoming increasingly important. From a historical perspective, the patriotic movement studies in phase II Republic, essays eager to find out the base and positive values ​​​​to contribute to the construction of roads «accompany nation» of Catholics, it is now the Party and State of Vietnam encouraged launched.

13. Further research directions:

The Catholics issue will be researched on the integration and the accompanying nation of Vietnam Catholics in the new inviroment that was socialism in South of Vietnam after 1975 as well as after 1986.
