In the scope of Nouns indicating time. The time words mentioned in this thesis are collected from the Thai Dictionary and the Vietnamese Dictionary, as well as through the means of interviewing native speakers. Using the criteria of time and period for analysis. If we comment on the semantic aspect, we can divide the methods of indicating time into; ways of determining time in a day and ways of determining time in a day, month, year.
In Thai and Vietnamese, the way to determine the time of day is quite similar, that is, indicating time: by numbers based on the clock; based on natural phenomena; based on human actions or animal actions; based on landmarks: past - present - future. And they are different in some detailed contents.
The methods of determining days - months - years in the two languages have similarities: 1) The way of indicating days of the week, indicating days in the monthly cycle according to the lunar and solar calendars, indicating days (festivals) in the annual cycle according to the lunar and solar calendars, 2) The way of determining "months" in the annual cycle according to the lunar and solar calendars, the way of indicating months according to seasons. In Vietnamese, there is a way of indicating months according to human activities, but not in Thai. 3) The way of determining "years" according to the lunar calendar system is the year of the 12 zodiac animals and the year according to the solar calendar system, Vietnamese people base it on the year AD while Thai people base it on the year of the Buddhist calendar. In addition, both languages also have ways of indicating days, weeks, months, and years according to landmarks: past - present - future and characteristics: beginning - middle - end.
Regarding duration, both Thai and Vietnamese have: 1) definite duration using numerals combined with other lexical units indicating time. 2) indefinite duration expressing the meaning of time from short time to long time.
The research results show that Thai and Vietnamese languages have a rich and diverse way of indicating time. They collect and create many lexical units expressing the meaning of time for use in daily activities. That reflects their subjective perception of the objective world, the relationship between language and thinking, and the uniqueness of time perception of users of the two languages: Thai and Vietnamese.

In compiling Thai-Vietnamese, Vietnamese-Thai comparative dictionaries. Or it can be added to the content of Thai language teaching books for Vietnamese people as well as Vietnamese language teaching books for Thai people. So that learners have more foreign language textbooks to look up in their studies.
