The thesis "The expressive function of the prose language of Tu Luc Van Doan (the case of Nhat Linh)" focuses on studying two issues: surveying and making statistics of the words expressing modals in four novels by writer Nhat Linh that have been selected for research. Through surveying and making statistics, the means of expressing modals have been classified into specific types and groups. The second is to classify the expressions and analyze the structure of each type of expression that has been classified. Through surveying, making statistics, classifying the means of expressing modals and analyzing the structure of sentences according to the type of expression, comments and conclusions have been drawn about the expressive function of the prose language of Tu Luc Van Doan in the case of Nhat Linh.

The language in Nhat Linh's prose has all the means of expressing modality in Vietnamese and depending on each work, there is a high concentration on some means of expressing modality.

Nhat Linh's prose language is rich in evocativeness, imagery, and diverse expressiveness. Although the language is imbued with romantic intellectualism, it does not lack multifacetedness. In particular, the expressiveness of Nhat Linh's prose does not stop at the means of expressing mood but also in the use of word types and in a very polished and flexible writing style.

The topic is carried out to provide a deeper, more thorough look at the artistic style of Tu Luc Van Doan in general and Nhat Linh in particular, thereby explaining an aspect of the writer's artistic style. At the same time, it is a useful reference document in researching and learning about the author Nhat Linh as well as his works.

The thesis was conducted to give a more thorough insight about the art of the Tu Doan literature in general and Nhat Linh in particular, therefore explaining an aspect of the writer. At the same time, it is a useful reference in research, studying about Nhat Linh as well as his literary.
