10. Summary of thesis results:

Thesis results include 3 chapters:

Chapter 1: Surveys the theoretical foundations related to the topic, points out the concept, classification and research status of Vietnamese and Chinese concession sentences in a specific and detailed manner.

Chapter 2: Survey and analysis of the translation of the concession sentence in the work "The Treasure of Life" from the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic perspectives.

Chapter 3: Survey of equivalent translation techniques; analysis of how to translate concession sentences from Chinese to Vietnamese on three levels: grammar, semantics, and pragmatics.

Conclusion: Translation is based on the principle of not changing the original meaning, based on different situations, translating in the form of expression, thinking method, and sentence structure. On the basis of "conformity", the target text is more consistent with the source text. Most researchers in previous years defined translation as translation of grammar. However, the author believes that the so-called translation method not only includes translation on the grammatical level, but also on the semantic and pragmatic levels. Each translation technique is the unity of grammar, semantics and pragmatics. Only when these three levels are combined together can a good work be translated. In the future, we hope that future researchers can continue to study Vietnamese concession sentences with richer materials, not only materials in literary works, but also colloquial materials and many other fields. Moreover, many techniques for translating concession sentences can be analyzed.

11. Practical application:

The research results of the literature are highly practical and can be applied to improve the quality of translated works, and also help interpreters overcome limitations and difficulties in bilingual translation.

12. Further research directions:

Our thesis uses the concession sentence in the work “The Treasure of Life” in Vietnamese translation and the original Chinese version as the material for survey, analysis and comparison. Therefore, in terms of the material, it is not yet rich, the scope of the research is still limited, which makes our new discoveries in the research process may not cover the entire research situation of concession sentences. In addition, our thesis mainly studies the equivalent translation technique but does not study all techniques, so it is inevitable that there are limitations.

7. Official thesis title: Research on the way of translation of concessive sentences from Chinese into Vietnamese (based on the work “Big Breasts and Wide Hips” by Mo Yan)

8. Major: Linguistics Code: 60.22.02.40

9. Academic supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Van Chinh - Department head of Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

The thesis consists of 3 chapters:

Chapter 1: Review of theoretical basis related to the thesis, pointing out the concept, classification and research situation of concessive sentences in Vietnamese and Chinese particularly and in details.

Chapter 2: Review of analysis on translation of concessive sentences in the work “Big Breasts and Wide Hips” in terms of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.

Chapter 3: Review of equivalent translation methods; analysis of the ways of translating concessive sentences from Chinese into Vietnamese in three aspects: syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.

Conclusion: Translation is on the basis of not changing the original meaning, based on different situations, shifting in the form of expression, mode of thinking, texture of the sentence. On the basis of "reasonable" translation, it makes the translated text more closely match the source text. Most researchers in previous years have defined the translation as the translation of grammar. But the author argues that the so-called translation not only includes translation in grammar, but also in semantic, pragmatic aspects. Each of translation methods is the unity of grammar, semantics, and pragmatics. It is a good work if only there is a combination of such three aspects. In the future, we hope that future researchers can continue to study the concessive sentences in Vietnamese with richer language, not only language in literary works, but also oral language and language in many other fields. Moreover, it is possible to analyze many methods of translating concessive sentences.

11. Practical applicability:

The research results of the thesis are highly practical, which can be used to improve the quality of translated works, also help the translators and interpreters to reduce the limitations and difficulties in bilingual translations.

12. Further research directions:

The corpus of the essay is concessive sentences in the work "Big Breasts and Wide Hips" in the Vietnamese translation and the Chinese original to conduct the survey, analysis, comparison, so that the corpus is not diversified. The scope of the research has a lot of restrictions, which makes our new findings in the research process fail to cover the entire research situation of concessive sentences. In addition, the thesis has mainly focused on the equivalent translation methods other than research on all methods so that limitations are unavoidable.
