Summary of thesis results: The thesis “The urbanization process and the transformation of parent-child relationships in suburban families of Hanoi (Case study of My Dinh commune - Tu Liem district - Hanoi)” The urbanization process in My Dinh commune is a transition from a traditional agricultural society to a modern urban society, changing not only material factors but also transforming patterns in family and social life. This process has created positive factors such as economic growth, increased household income, and a shift in the occupational structure, with a decrease in agricultural labor and an increase in industry and services. The transformation of the family is clearly reflected in the changes in its functions and relationships. Due to urbanization, the parent-child relationship in families today is becoming increasingly strained, creating gaps and showing signs of crisis compared to the past. This impact also disrupts the lifestyles, activities, and cultural values of the family. Parents' role in controlling their children has decreased, and the time spent together has declined as families dedicate more time to economic activities. This significantly affects the education and management of children within the family. Conflicts between parents and children regarding behavior, lifestyle, viewpoints, and economic issues are on the rise. Children's thinking about their relationship with their parents is also changing, reflected in a decrease in obedience and sharing compared to the past. The main cause of this change in parent-child relationships is the impact of economic factors. This includes changes in the labor structure, employment, and household income. People are losing their productive land, and unemployment is increasing due to families having to change occupations and not adapting to new conditions. These factors create pressure on family members, giving rise to conflicts and disagreements in the parent-child relationship. Furthermore, changes in life philosophies and deviations from standard family values are manifested in the degradation of moral principles, living habits, and family traditions. Traditional moral values are being severely eroded, diminishing the function of the family, and the diversity of family structures has created a clear differentiation among families. These are inevitable consequences of urbanization. The impact of urbanization has created gaps in the parent-child relationship, leading to discord, conflict, and tension between parents and children. The breakdown of emotional relationships between parents and children has disrupted the lifestyle, daily activities, and morality within families today. Therefore, appropriate solutions are needed from both the government and individual households to harmoniously resolve the parent-child relationship within families today.

Major: Sociology 9. Code: 60 31 30 10. Supervisors: Associate Professor Dr Pham Van Quyet 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis Subject “The process of urbanization and the transformation relations between parents and children in the suburbs of Ha Noi family (Case studies Mi Dinh – Tu Liem – Ha Noi)” The process of urbanization in Mi Dinh is the transition from a traditional agricultural society to a modem urban society, changing not only the physical elements, but also changes in the life of the mold, family and society. That process has created positive factors such as economic growth, raising household income, which is attached to there structuring of industry, agriculture is reduced labor and instead the rise of industry and services. That is clearly shown in the family change the functions and relationships within the family. Before the changes of urbanization process, the relationship between parents and children in families now becomes loose, has appeared in the blanks and there are signs of a crisis in the family than before. And the impact it also upset the lifestyle, activities and cultural values of the family before. The role of parental control for children has increasingly reduced, and funds which time parents and children for each family have been reduced by spending more time on economic activities and this really great effect to the education and management of children in the family. The conflict between parent and child behaviour, lifestyle, life perspective, the economy tends to increase. The thoughts of the children in the relationship with parents also have some changes, reflecting the degree of obedience and sharing for parents of children less than before. The main reason leading to the change in the relationship between parent and child is due to the impact of factors on economic conditions. That is the change in the structure of labor, employment and household income. Residents loss of productive land, lack of jobs is increasing due to the family and not career change to adapt to new conditions. The factors create pressure for the family members give rise to conflicts, disagreements in the relationship between parent and child. On the other hand the change in the conception of life and values differences in family norms, expressed through the deterioration of moral principles, living habits and routines of the family. The traditional moral values are eroded strongly impair the function of the family and the diversity of family structures makes the differentiation of distinct families. And as teh inevitable consequences of the urbanization process bring. Before the impact of urbanization process has created gaps in the relationship between parents and children is a phenomenon that parents and children discord, conflict. The rift of emotional ralationships between parents and children living broke, and family morality today. So there should be the right solution from the government and from the household to resolve harmonious relationship between parents in the family today.
