Scientific supervisor: Prof. Dr. Tran Tri Doi 11. Summary of the thesis results (summarize the results of the thesis, emphasizing new results, if any) Our thesis describes the phonetics of the Kinh language of Mu Thau village, China, and then compares it with the phonetics of modern Vietnamese. The phonetics of the Kinh people of Mu Thau village, China are as follows: + Tones: According to our statistical results, the Kinh language of Mu Thau village, China, only has 5 tones: level tone, falling tone, rising tone, glottal stop tone, and glottal stop tone. + Initial sound: The initial sound in the syllables of the Kinh language of Mu Thau village is always a consonant. The Kinh language of Mu Thau village has 19 phonemes that are initial consonants in its phonetic system: [ʔ], [k], [ŋ], [ɲ], [t], [b], [d], [m], [n], [s], [h], [v], [r], [l], [t'], [c], [ɣ], [f], [z]. + Medial sound: In the syllable structure of the Kinh language of Mu Thau village in Chinese, there are two medial sounds: the medial sound /-w-/ and the medial sound /ʔ/ (but since the sound /ʔ/ exists after all initial consonants, we do not consider it). Therefore, we believe that the Kinh language of Mu Thau village only has one medial sound /-w-/. + Main vowels: Vowels play the role of main vowels in the syllables of the Kinh language of Mú Thàu village. Therefore, according to statistics, in the syllable phonetic system of Mú Thàu village, there are 15 vowel sounds as main vowels: [ie], [ɯɤ], [uo], [i], [e], [ε], [ɯ], [ɤ], [a], [u], [o], [ɔ:], [ɔ], [ɤˇ], [ă]. + Final vowels: In the syllable phonetic system of the Kinh language of Mú Thàu village, there are 6 consonants as final vowels: [-p], [-t], [-k], [-m], [-n], [-ŋ]. Compared to modern Vietnamese, the phonetics of the Kinh language of Mú Thàu village differs significantly, for example, in the number of vowels, consonants, etc. For example, Vietnamese has 14 vowels: [ie], [ɯɤ], [uo], [i], [e], [ε], [ɯ], [ɤ], [a], [u], [o], [ɔ], [ɤˇ], [ă]; the Kinh language of Mú Thàu village has 15 vowels: [ie], [ɯɤ], [uo], [i], [e], [ε], [ɯ], [ɤ], [a], [u], [o], [ɔ:], [ɔ], [ɤˇ], [ă]. The Kinh language of Mú Thàu village has one more vowel [ɔ:] than Vietnamese. And in the current Vietnamese phonetic system, there are 22 phonemes that form initial consonants: [t'], [t], [ʈ], [c], [k], [ʔ], [b], [d], [m], [n], [ɲ], [ŋ], [f], [s], [ʂ], [χ], [h], [v], [z], [ʐ], [ɣ], [l]; while the Kinh language of Mú Thàu village only has 19 phonemes that form initial consonants: [ʔ], [k], [ŋ], [ɲ], [t], [b], [d], [m], [n], [s], [h], [v], [r], [l], [t'], [c], [ɣ], [f], [z]. Thus, Vietnamese has 3 more phonemes than the Kinh language of Mu Thau village: [ʈ], [ʂ], [χ]. Our thesis will contribute to researchers studying the phonetics of the Kinh people of China and help in understanding the history of the Vietnamese language. 12. Practical applications: Contributes to researchers studying the phonetics of the Kinh people of China and helps in understanding the history of the Vietnamese language. 13.
