Summary of thesis results: Nguyen Khai is one of the representative writers of Vietnamese literature before 1975. Nguyen Khai participated in the resistance war from a very young age and wholeheartedly served the sacred struggle of the nation. After peace was restored, especially when the country entered the period of reform, along with the transformations in the country's economic and political life, Nguyen Khai also made positive changes in his creative process as an inevitable way of "survival" in the new era. Nguyen Khai's works after 1986 are numerous, but his short stories are particularly noteworthy, and he achieved success even at an age considered "rare." However, to date, research on Nguyen Khai's short stories after 1986, despite achieving significant results, has only been conducted in a localized manner, limited by genre or subject matter. This thesis can be considered one of the first studies to systematically address the entirety of Nguyen Khai's short stories after 1986.
