Summary of Thesis Results: This thesis analyzes the level of satisfaction of the people with the compensation and land clearance work for the access road component of the Trung Son hydropower project, specifically in project activities such as: consultation and information dissemination; asset inventory; compensation and support policies; compensation payment; and complaint resolution. The thesis also analyzes the factors affecting the level of satisfaction of the people with the compensation and land clearance work. Through the research, the thesis has obtained the following results: Firstly, the majority of surveyed households gave positive feedback on the implementation of the project's compensation and land clearance. Consultation and information dissemination activities were quite common and attracted the participation of the people. The asset inventory, compensation payment, and complaint resolution were carried out according to the correct procedures and schedule. The compensation and support policies were developed in compliance with World Bank policies and Vietnamese law. Household satisfaction with these activities mainly fell into two categories: "normal" and "satisfied". The issue of greatest concern to households, and also the one showing the least satisfaction, was the compensation unit price not reflecting market prices due to "price fluctuations and currency devaluation". Secondly, there was a difference in satisfaction levels regarding compensation and land clearance between the two groups of heavily affected and lightly affected households. Lightly affected households showed higher satisfaction levels than heavily affected households. Thirdly, the implementation of project activities influenced the level of satisfaction among the people. Fourthly, the thesis also offered several recommendations for relevant stakeholders: policymakers, the Trung Son Hydropower Project Management Board, and the affected local authorities. 11. Practical Applications: The study provides specific data clarifying the level of satisfaction of the people with the compensation and land clearance work for the access road component of the Trung Son hydropower project. The research results contribute to helping the Project Management Board and local authorities gain a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of the thoughts and aspirations of the people affected by the project in the study area. Through this, the relevant parties can develop more effective intervention solutions to improve the satisfaction level of the affected people with subsequent projects.

The inventory of assets, payment of compensation, and solution of complaints, grievances complied with the procedures and schedule. Policy of compensation, support was built on the basis of the legal framework and policies of the Government of Vietnam and Worldbank policies. Satisfaction of the households for these activities has mainly concentrated in two levels: “normal” and “satisfaction”. Secondly, there are differences in the level of satisfaction with the compensation, site clearance activities between the two groups: seriously affected household and slightly affected household. Slightly affected households express more satisfaction than seriously affected households. Thirdly, the level of people's satisfaction has been affected by project implementation. Fourthly, the subject has come up with some recommendations for stakeholders: policy makers, the Trung Son Hydropower Project Management Board, affected local authorities. 12. Practical Application: The study provides specific data to clarify the level of people's satisfaction with the compensation, site clearance of the Trung Son hydropower project. These findings contribute to the Trung Son Hydropower Project Management Board, local authorities have a proper overview about the feelings and aspirations of the people affected by the project. Through this study, stakeholders can have more effective interventions to improve the level of satisfaction of affected people for the next project.
