Studying Pure Land Buddhism, a sect in Buddhism in terms of its history of birth and development, doctrine, and practice methods. Thereby analyzing its basic manifestations in Vietnamese Buddhism today such as Pure Land ideology in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism; the foundation for the formation of some endogenous religions in the South in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; the position of the Amitabha Three-Buddha statue set in Vietnamese pagodas; the ideology of Zen, Pure Land, and Phuoc Hue dual cultivation and the role of Pure Land practice for Vietnamese Buddhists. From the research results achieved, it helps readers, Buddhists, and administrators visualize the nature of Pure Land Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism in Vietnam in the past and present.

This thesis seeks to investigate Pure Land, a school of Buddhism, in terms of its history of emergence and development, doctrine and practices. Analyzes will focus on its main representations within Vietnamese Buddhism at the present such as Pure Land's ideology in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism; grounds for the formation of some indigenous religions in the South in later 19th century and early 20th century; the position of in Vietnamese Buddhist temples; the idea of self-cultivation based on combination of meditation and purification or Phuoc Hue and the place of self-cultivation of Pure Land within Vietnamese Buddhists. The research findings are useful for ordinary readers, for Buddhists, and for state officials to understand the nature of Pure Land and Pure Land Buddhism in Vietnam both in the past and at the present.
