10. Summary of the thesis results:

This study examines Pure Land Buddhism, a school within Buddhism, from its historical origins and development to its doctrines and practice methods. It analyzes its fundamental manifestations in contemporary Vietnamese Buddhism, such as the Pure Land thought in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism; the foundations of several indigenous religions in Southern Vietnam in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; the position of the Amitabha Triad in Vietnamese temples; the Zen and Pure Land philosophy, the simultaneous cultivation of merit and wisdom, and the role of Pure Land practice for Vietnamese Buddhists. The research findings aim to help readers, Buddhist followers, and administrators understand the nature of Pure Land Buddhism and its presence in Vietnam, both in the past and present.

This thesis seeks to investigate Pure Land, a school of Buddhism, in terms of its history of emergence and development, doctrine and practices. Analyzes will focus on its main representations within Vietnamese Buddhism at the present such as Pure Land's ideology in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism; grounds for the formation of some indigenous religions in the South in later 19th century and early 20th century; the position of in Vietnamese Buddhist temples; the idea of ​​self-cultivation based on combination of meditation and purification or Phuoc Hue and the place of self-cultivation of Pure Land within Vietnamese Buddhists. The research findings are useful for ordinary readers, for Buddhists, and for state officials to understand the nature of Pure Land and Pure Land Buddhism in Vietnam both in the past and at the present.

12. Practical applicability, if any: Providing theoretical foundations for research of Pure Land Buddhism as well as directions for the task of religious works for authorities in regard to Vietnamese Buddhism.
