10. Summary of the thesis results:
The thesis analyzed and highlighted the importance of data journalism in the current era, affirming that data journalism is the future of modern online newspapers not only domestically but also internationally. Furthermore, the thesis surveyed and evaluated the current state of data journalism production organization at three online newspapers: Dan Tri, Zingnews, and Vietnamplus. Based on the survey results, the thesis identified the successes and their causes, as well as the limitations and their causes, in the data journalism production process at these three newspapers.
Furthermore, the thesis also proposes several solutions to improve the quality of the data journalism production process in the three aforementioned newspapers in particular, and in online newspapers in Vietnam in general.
Specifically, newsrooms need to invest more in technology and techniques; train and recruit more highly qualified personnel in data journalism; improve data source sourcing skills for journalists and fully comply with all steps in organizing the production of data journalism products; and establish a fair remuneration mechanism for data journalism products to encourage and motivate staff to enthusiastically participate in data journalism production.
This thesis provides valuable insights for online news outlets in Vietnam to improve the organization and production of data-driven journalistic products.
