Summary of the thesis's findings: The thesis clearly shows that self-reflection is a recurring theme throughout Che Lan Vien's creative journey after the August 1945 Revolution, particularly evident in his posthumous poems and the final years of his poetic career. Through the manifestations of this self-reflection, we gain a deeper understanding of Che Lan Vien's character and the poet's pain and torment: a person who had to sacrifice his true self for the collective, for his mission, to the point of sometimes having to wear many masks, even masks that were not his own. We also gain a deeper understanding of the craft of poetry, the poet's calling. A poet must endure much mental anguish, hardship, and toil, but also great glory. Through this, Che Lan Vien also helps us understand something seemingly simple: poetry must be useful, poetry must not be detached from reality. Not only did Che Lan Vien focus on the content of poetry, but he also highly valued its form. He clearly expressed his concerns about form, wording, tone, and poetic style in his posthumous poetry. This is also a practical and meaningful lesson for poets today and in the future. 11. Practical applications: (if any) 12. Supervisors: Associate Professor Luu Khanh Tho at Vietnam Literature Institue 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: The thesis shows that self-questioning is the inspiration which shot through the after-August-Revolution period of composing poem of Che Lan Vien, which is especially expressed in Last Collection of Poems, the poem composing period at the end of his life. By his self-questioning expressions, we understand more about Che Lan Vien's characteristics as well as his torment. He sacrificed his ego, his “I” for the “We”, for his task. He had to wear different faces, even the one which is not his. We also understand better about the poem career, and poet's sacred mission. A poet has to overcome much worrisome, hardship but it is glorious. Thanks to that, Che Lan Vien helps us to understand a simple idea: poem should be practical and should not be out of real life. Che Lan Vien not only focuses on the poem's content, but also its form. In Posthumous Poetry, he showed his deep thinking of form, word choice, rythm, poem's types. This is a practical and meaningful lesson for poets of present and future. 12. Practical applicability, if any: None 13.
