Monk Huong Hai was one of the pioneers in the movement to "Vietnamize" Buddhism and revive the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect. Through his translations and compositions in Nom, he has made enormous contributions to the treasury of Buddhist literature in particular and Vietnamese literature in general. Through the study of the translationHeart Sutra CommentaryBy the monk Huong Hai, we can see part of the development process of Nom script in our country during the period of completion. As well as the way in which Buddhist activists translated Buddhist works in our country, showing a step forward in the history of Nom translation of Buddhist works in Vietnam. The Buddhist terms translated in the work also help us understand the concepts, viewpoints, and Buddhist thoughts of the Dai Viet monks at that time.
The thesis has the following contributions:
Clarifying the basic informational issues of the Heart Sutra commentary text with the code AB.530 stored at the Institute of Han Nom Studies such as textual studies, structure and textual issues to contribute to clarifying the life of the Nom translation of the Heart Sutra commentary by Zen master Dai Dien in Vietnam. The thesis delves into the annotation methods in the Chinese part of Zen master Dai Dien, as well as the Nom translation methods used in the translation of monk Huong Hai.
