On September 5, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a reception and admission procedures for new students of the QH-2012-X course. By the end of the afternoon, 1,044 students had completed the admission procedures, reaching 86.28% of the students admitted to their first choice.

On September 4, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference for all staff members. Attending were Associate Professor, Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of VNU - and representatives of the functional departments of VNU.

“Propaganda of Thang Long culture and history” is one of the new volunteer contents in the 2012 summer volunteer campaign of the capital’s youth and students in 2012. The volunteer team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities promoting Thang Long culture and history has more than 80 members from the faculties of Linguistics, Tourism, Oriental Studies and International Studies, divided into 6 volunteer teams at tourist destinations in and outside Hanoi including the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Co Loa relic site – Dong Anh, Soc Temple relic site – Soc Son and the temple of Princess Y Lan – Gia Lam.

In the 2012 summer volunteer campaign, volunteer students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continued to Soc Son district (Hanoi). This year, there were 3 teams operating in 3 disadvantaged communes: Kim Lu, Duc Hoa and Dong Xuan, lasting from July 15 to August 5.

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2012), on July 26, 2012, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union and the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) organized a visit and presented gifts to the Center for Nursing Seriously Wounded Soldiers in Liem Can Commune (Thanh Liem District - Ha Nam) and the Center for Nursing Seriously Wounded Soldiers in Nho Quan District (Ninh Binh Province). This is a meaningful and humane activity organized by the University every year to show gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of the wounded and sick soldiers.

On the morning of June 28, 2012, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to commend and reward students who are children of the school's staff and employees who achieved the title of excellent students in the 2011-2012 school year.

This morning, June 20, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal - and representatives of several departments visited and congratulated the staff of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Center for Journalism and Communication on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

On June 16, Seijong Korean Language Center Hanoi, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, held the closing ceremony of the 4th course and awarded certificates to more than 53 students of all levels.

On April 21, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the National Office of Intellectual Property jointly organized two events: Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property; Student Competition with Intellectual Property. These are activities to implement the Cooperation Agreement in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the National Office of Intellectual Property signed by the Leaders of both sides on August 5, 2010, on the occasion of World IP Day 2012, and at the same time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Office of Intellectual Property (July 29, 1982 - July 29, 2012).

To celebrate the success of the 7th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, term 2012-2014, the Youth Union - Student Association of the school organized a festival of revolutionary song propaganda teams on the evening of April 20, 2012. With unique and impressive performances, the team of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication won first prize.

The awarding ceremony of short-term Persian language certificate level A for students who participated in the course from September 2011 to March 2012 took place on April 19, 2012. Among the 7 students receiving the certificate this time, 6 students are students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and 1 student is from the Embassy of Iran in Vietnam.

On April 11, 2012, famous photojournalist Nick Ut had a talk and exchange with staff of the Center for Journalism and Communication and students of Journalism.
