The picture of religious life and beliefs in Vinh Thuan district is very diverse and rich. Currently, the whole district has 4 religions recognized by the State in terms of organization; there are 1077 dignitaries, monks, 124 officials, nearly 10,000 followers with organizations and sects including: Buddhism, Cao Dai,BuddhismHoa Hao, Tinh Do La Si Phat Hoi Viet Nam, has 39 places of worship; followers live in all 7 communes and 1 town of Vinh Thuan district. The district has 05 Khmer Theravada pagodas with 27 dignitaries and 6,167 followers. Khmer Theravada pagodas are in Vinh Thuan, Vinh Phong, Phong Dong, Vinh Binh Bac towns. Khmer Theravada Buddhists mainly live on agriculture and aquaculture. Implementing the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Kien Giang province, in recent years, Khmer Theravada Buddhism in Vinh Thuan district has achieved remarkable results in social work such as building Great Unity houses, Peaceful Residence Houses, building bridges, roads, rural roads, medical examination and medicine, eye surgery, giving scholarships... The mobilization budget for the above mentioned humanitarian charity activities over the past decade has been determined to be more than 30 billion VND. This work has been praised and highly appreciated by all levels and sectors, and it is recommended that it should be promoted more strongly to develop social work in the coming time. Besides the positive aspects, the social work activities of Khmer Theravada Buddhism in Vinh Thuan District, Kien Giang Province are still spontaneous. Social work faces many difficulties, shortcomings, and low efficiency, and it is necessary to have specific solutions to promote positive factors and limit difficulties. This is one of the urgent issues that need to be strategic in the religious work of Khmer Theravada Buddhism today. Therefore, the student chose the topic "Social charity of Khmer Theravada Buddhism in Vinh Thuan District, Kien Giang Province today" as the topic of his master's thesis.
