Since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was re-elected for the second term (from 2012 to 2017), the security environment surrounding Japan has become increasingly harsh, especially in Northeast Asia - a region with many unresolved hot spots such as the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula; territorial sovereignty disputes.... With the desire to return to being a "normal" country and, moreover, to return to the position of a world power, Japan must first have a high position in the region and have influence with neighboring countries, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has made a series of changes in foreign policy and security strategy with countries in the Northeast Asia region. The thesis presents the content and implementation of Japan's security strategies under Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's second term with the Northeast Asia region. The thesis specifically analyzes the strategies through the bilateral relationship between Japan and countries in the Northeast Asia region. Based on clarifying the above issues, the thesis analyzes the impacts of Japan's security strategy under Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's second term on the Northeast Asian security environment. In order to make recommendations for Vietnam in taking advantage of the advantages of security and defense cooperation with Japan and at the same time forecast the trend of this country's security strategy towards Vietnam in the coming time. The thesis also makes a number of recommendations for Vietnam in terms of thinking, building and implementing security and defense cooperation with Japan in the coming time.
