11. Summary of thesis results:
The thesis researches the topic "US policy on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) (2017-2022)" with a structure of 3 chapters: (i) Factors affecting the US policy on the nuclear issue of the DPRK; (ii) US policy on the nuclear issue of the DPRK and (iii) Some comments and predictions on the US policy on the nuclear issue of the DPRK.
In Chapter 1, the thesis concludes that internal and external factors have strongly impacted the policies and strategies of the United States; among these factors, there are both valuable factors that promote and support the policy implementation process, but there are also factors that hinder the policy. In Chapter 2, the thesis points out that the National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, and the strategy for the Indo-Pacific region of the United States have some notable main contents, which are that they all identify the nuclear issue of the DPRK as a serious threat to the United States and pay great attention to coordinating with allies to increase pressure on the DPRK in order to push the DPRK to the negotiating table. Chapter 3, the thesis finds that the policies of the two administrations of President Donald Trump and Joe Biden are not completely different but still have many similarities. At the same time, it points out that these policies have created both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam; from there, it proposes a number of policy recommendations for Vietnam to take advantage of opportunities and minimize risks in the fields of politics-foreign affairs and security-defense. In addition, the thesis predicts that during the remaining time of the Joe Biden administration, the policy towards the nuclear issue of the DPRK will most likely not have many breakthrough changes but will mainly increase toughness on the basis of inheriting the measures that have been implemented.
Finally, the thesis concludes that internal and external factors of the United States have affected the country's policies in many aspects and dimensions. The main content of the policies emphasizes the level of threat posed by North Korea to the national security of the United States and emphasizes the maximum use of pressure tools. At the same time, the thesis concludes that President Joe Biden's policies on the nuclear issue of the DPRK are not completely different from those of President Donald Trump's term and the impact of these policies on Vietnam is multi-dimensional and comprehensive. From now until the end of the term, it is likely that the administration of President Joe Biden will adjust its policy on the nuclear issue of the DPRK in a tougher direction.
12. Practical applicability: Through analyzing the impacts of US policy on the North Korean nuclear issue on Vietnam and some policy recommendations, the thesis has the potential to be applied in research and teaching in related fields.
