The thesis has conducted research and assessed the differences in the Pha Vet festival of the PakLay people, Xaiyabouly province before and after the renovation period in 1986. Through research and assessment, the author has pointed out the history of formation and development of the Pha Vet festival, the basic features that a traditional festival of the PakLay people, Xaiyabouly province needs to implement. The highlight of the thesis is to objectively and directly assess the changes that occurred before and after the renovation period in 1986, according to which the Pha Vet festival of the PakLay people in PakLay district, Xaiyabouli province is basically considered to have maintained its long-standing traditional values, its own unique features according to the ancient cultural style, however, there have been some changes to suit the current situation such as the festival is held with more purposes including both spiritual and political purposes; The festival organizers are not only the village elders but also the decisions of the relevant provincial leadership departments; in addition, there are also changes in festival participants. If before 1945, the Pha Vet festival only had the participation of people in the district, today it has the participation of people from all over the country, even tourists from all over the world; The time and location of the festival also tend to change in the direction of prolongation and expansion; Finally, the changes in the festival preparation process also have many differences compared to before 1986 to suit today's context. The causes of this change are mainly influenced by economic - social - cultural factors - and state management.
In addition, through his thesis, the author has pointed out the causes of the transformation process in the Pha Vet festival before and after the renovation period. Along with pointing out a series of causes that have direct and indirect impacts on the transformation of the festival, the author has proposed a number of solutions to limit those causes. The subjects implementing these solutions are mainly the Department of Culture, Information and Tourism of Xaiyabouli province, local authorities of PakLay district and Xaiyabouli province, tourists participating in the festival and finally the people in PakLay district, Xaiyabouli province.

Through the research results, the thesis shows the changes in the practice of a traditional festival of the PakLay people, PakLay district, Xaiyabouly province, thereby answering the question of how globalization and market economy affect the intangible heritage of ethnic minorities, and at the same time finding the causes and solutions to preserve the national cultural identity in the new era of traditional festivals for the PakLay people in particular and the Lao people in general.
