The thesis clarifies the theory of the relationship between heritage conservation and cultural tourism development in general, from which the analytical framework is applied to the case of the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel. Through the study of that relationship as well as the practical demonstration of tourism development activities at Thang Long Imperial Citadel to affirm that cultural tourism activities are an important form of conservation for the heritage site. And focusing on developing cultural tourism activities at this heritage is necessary. The achievements from tourism, although not really having a great impact on conservation activities, create motivational value, encouraging managers to pay attention to organizing tourism activities to be more effective.
