The thesis has presented an overview of the factors affecting the Vietnam - China trade relations and the current status of the Vietnam - China trade relations before 1991; clarified the Party's policy and direction for developing the Vietnam - China trade relations from 1991 to 2005 through two periods 1991 - 1995 and 1996 - 2005 in the main areas: investment cooperation in building trade infrastructure, trade and service relations; at the same time, made some comments on the advantages, limitations and drew some experiences with meaningful reference.

Experiences drawn from 15 years of developing trade relations between Vietnam and China (1991 - 2005) will be important arguments, contributing to promoting effective and sustainable development of Vietnam's foreign economy.
