10. Summary of thesis results:

This study aims to clarify the public opinion of students of the Faculty of Law, Hue University on same-sex marriage. Since same-sex marriage is not yet recognized in Vietnam, the topic focuses on studying the public opinion of students on the legalization of same-sex marriage.

The research was carried out in two main contents:

Firstly, to study the paths leading to the formation of public opinion of students of the Faculty of Law - Hue University on the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Second, to study the current state of students’ public opinion on same-sex marriage. This state includes: students’ public opinion on homosexuality; on same-sex cohabitation and on the legalization of same-sex marriage in Vietnam today.

From the research results, the author has proposed solutions for homosexuals to live together; the rights that need to be recognized for homosexuals; to help perfect the current legal system.

11. Practical application:

- The research results will be useful documents to help law drafters get more opinions from students about legalizing same-sex marriage in Vietnam.

- The research results are the basis for the Ministry of Justice to consider adding to the Law on Marriage and Family in the next revision.

- Research on factors affecting social DL on legalizing HNDG in Vietnam.

The research aims at clarifying the public opinion of students on same-sex marriage. Nowadays, same-sex marriage has not been recognized in Vietnam; Therefore, the research focuses on students' public opinions about the legalization of same-sex marriage.

The research focuses on two main points:

  • Investigate the foundation of Hue University – Law Faculty students' public opinions on legalizing same-sex marriage.
  • Investigate the reality of students' public opinions on same-sex marriage including homosexuality, cohabitation and legalization of same-sex marriage in Vietnam.

From the findings on Law students' public opinions, the researcher proposes the solutions to same – sex marriage; the recognition of the rights for homosexuals in improving the current legal system.

The study findings will be useful for the law-makers in gaining more student opinions about the legalization of same-sex marriage in Vietnam.
