- This thesis is a theoretical work that examines To Hoai's memoirs from a comparative genre perspective, showing the intermingling of memoirs with short stories and reportage in terms of point of view, characters, structure, language, and tone. From this, it affirms To Hoai's contributions to shaping the face of memoirs in the post-1975 period of reform in particular, and the face of Vietnamese literature in general.
