This thesis has contributed to clarifying some basic theoretical issues of information retrieval systems in information and library activities, such as clarifying the concept of an information retrieval system and its components; identifying factors affecting the information retrieval system; studying the current state of the information retrieval system; and providing assessments and comments on data creation and organization within the information retrieval system at the Library of Thua Thien Hue College of Education. Based on theoretical research and practical surveys, the thesis has proposed several solutions to improve the information retrieval system to better meet the information needs of users at the Library of Thua Thien Hue College of Education.

The research findings of this thesis can be applied to the operational processing and reader service work of the Library of Thua Thien Hue College of Education in the current period and in the years to come.

The thesis has taken a part into clarifying some basic theories on information retrieval systems in library information activities such as: clearly defining the concept of information retrieval systems and components of the systems; bringing up the factors impacted to information retrieval systems; studying the situations of information retrieval systems and providing some assessments on data creation of information retrieval systems as well as used data structure in the information retrieval systems at the Library of Thua Thien Hue College of Education. Based on theoretical researches and realistic investigation, the thesis has raised some recommendations and solutions for completing the information retrieval systems in order to meet users' information satisfaction at Library of Thua Thien Hue College of Education.

Research results can be applied in daily work of operating information retrieval systems and serving users at the Library of the Thua Thien Hue College of education in the current period and coming years.
