Along with the development process of the world, NGOs were born and increasingly demonstrated their indispensable role in the international community. NGOs play a very important role in supporting the resolution of economic and social issues, the focus of which in this thesis is HIV/AIDS prevention activities in Vietnam. NGOs operate for the interests of disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in society, helping them integrate into the community. It can be said that NGOs have become an important force in the development process of Vietnam, however, NGOs also have certain limitations and difficulties such as limited capital, projects lacking focus...
Over the past 20 years, through thousands of projects implemented in most provinces and cities of Vietnam, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people have benefited from the projects. That has contributed significantly to improving the quality of health and life of Vietnam in general and people with HIV in particular. HIV/AIDS prevention projects, in addition to focusing on preventing infection and reducing harm, also contribute to the socio-economic development process, helping project beneficiaries overcome inferiority complex, do business, rise out of poverty, integrate into and contribute to society.
However, in addition to the positive results achieved, there are still some limitations in human resources, infrastructure, funding sources as well as sustainability in operations. The thesis has recommended solutions to partly overcome these limitations, and at the same time proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness of activities.
This is an updated topic and focuses in-depth on the activities of non-governmental organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, so the results of the thesis are completely new research results.
11. Practical application: (if any)
All research results of the thesis can be applied in practice right from the present time. The results of the thesis partly contribute to non-governmental organizations, research agencies, and the Non-governmental Organization Data Center to build and update information sources and serve as a theoretical basis for conducting future research in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention; provide assessments of cooperation and support of non-governmental organizations in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention; organizations can apply recommendations and solutions with practical application in the thesis because the conclusions in the thesis are based on assessments and synthesis from practical implementation of work that the author has had the opportunity to do and seen in the actual work of HIV/AIDS prevention at APHEDA organization.
12. Further research directions: (if any)
HIV/AIDS prevention is an activity that requires the participation and coordination of all agencies, sectors, unions, people, social organizations, non-governmental organizations as well as the support of international organizations. The thesis has not had the opportunity to deeply explore and compare the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention with the support of non-governmental organizations in Vietnam and other countries. In addition, deeper and further access to many Vietnamese and foreign non-governmental organizations will help to have a more comprehensive view and objective assessment of the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention as a basis for evaluating support work and evaluating Vietnam's international cooperation in the field of HIV/AIDS in particular. Therefore, further, more in-depth studies on these contents are needed.
