10. Summary of the thesis results:
This thesis has researched and clarified three aspects: the theoretical and practical basis of the research problem; the current state of the research problem; and recommendations for solutions to improve the effectiveness of the research problem. The research results have clarified the collaborative activities of non-governmental organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Vietnam today.
Along with the development of the world, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have emerged and are increasingly demonstrating their indispensable role in the international community. NGOs play a significant role in supporting the resolution of economic and social issues, with the focus of this thesis being HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities in Vietnam. NGOs operate for the benefit of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in society, helping them integrate into the community. It can be said that NGOs have become an important force in Vietnam's development process; however, they also face certain limitations and difficulties such as limited funding and a lack of focus in their projects.
Over the past 20 years, through thousands of projects implemented across most provinces and cities in Vietnam, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people have benefited. This has significantly contributed to improving the quality of health and life in Vietnam in general and for people living with HIV in particular. Besides focusing on infection prevention and harm reduction, HIV/AIDS prevention projects also contribute to socio-economic development, helping beneficiaries overcome feelings of inferiority and shame, improve their economic situation, escape poverty, integrate into society, and contribute to society.
However, despite the positive results achieved, several limitations remain regarding human resources, infrastructure, funding, and sustainability of operations. This thesis recommends solutions to partially overcome these limitations and proposes measures to improve the effectiveness of the activities.
This topic is up-to-date and focuses in-depth on the activities of non-governmental organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, therefore the results of this thesis are entirely new research findings.
11. Practical applications: (if any)
All research findings in this thesis are immediately applicable in practice. The results of this thesis contribute to the development and updating of information sources and provide a theoretical basis for future research in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and control by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutions, and NGO data centers. It also offers assessments of cooperation and support from NGOs in HIV/AIDS prevention and control. Organizations can apply the practical recommendations and solutions presented in this thesis because the conclusions are based on assessments and synthesis from the practical implementation of work that the author has had the opportunity to carry out and observed in the actual HIV/AIDS prevention and control work at APHEDA.
12. Future research directions: (if any)
HIV/AIDS prevention and control requires the coordinated participation of all agencies, departments, mass organizations, social organizations, non-governmental organizations, as well as support from international organizations. This thesis has not had the opportunity to delve deeply into and compare the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention and control efforts with the support of non-governmental organizations in Vietnam and other countries. Furthermore, a deeper and broader approach to more Vietnamese and foreign non-governmental organizations would provide a more comprehensive and objective assessment of HIV/AIDS prevention and control efforts. This would serve as a basis for evaluating support and assessing Vietnam's international cooperation in the field of HIV/AIDS in particular. Therefore, further, more in-depth research on these topics is needed.
