11. Summary of the thesis results:
Thesis"Tibetan Buddhism – History and Current Issues"This thesis initially clarifies the history of the formation and development of Tibetan Buddhism, highlighting its similarities and differences compared to Mahayana Buddhism in China. Furthermore, the thesis contributes to clarifying the role of Tibetan Buddhism in religious, political, social, and cultural life, not only for Tibet but also its increasingly profound influence on many countries around the world, including Europe and America. Politically, Tibetan Buddhism has been a thorny issue for the People's Republic of China from ancient times to the present (at least since 1949). To this day, the issue of Tibetan Buddhism remains a "powder keg" for China; the research in this thesis provides valuable insights into religious policy.
12. Practical applications:
Studying the history of this issue is primarily significant for Vietnam's social and religious understanding. In recent years, Tibetan Buddhism (the Tantric school) has shown significant growth within Vietnamese Buddhism, thus providing practical lessons that can help Vietnam make necessary responses. A comprehensive study of China's approach to this issue will draw lessons from both successes and failures, as noted by the Chinese themselves. From this, we can compare and use this as a basis for reference regarding China's religious policy and apply it to Vietnam.
