10. Summary of thesis results:The practice of carrying statues in palanquins originates from the belief, gratitude, and reverence for the divine world—deities and people who have contributed to the nation throughout Vietnamese history. People believe that using palanquins to carry statues is the highest and most respectful way to express reverence for these deities, according to traditional customs in each local belief system and religion. Each local belief system and religion has its own similarities and differences in the palanquin processions, forming a unique "local" character and a "culturally relative" spirit, a blend and harmony between traditional agricultural culture, indigenous beliefs, and foreign religions of the Vietnamese people in the Northern Delta. From this, we gain a more thorough understanding of the value of palanquin processions and the ritual practices at some traditional festivals in the beliefs and religions of the Vietnamese people in the Northern Delta in particular and in Vietnam in general.
