The main reasons affecting students' self-learning skills are that they lack effective methods and are not proactive in self-learning.

The thesis comes to conclusion that self-study ability of the cadets of The Armed Police College is at average level and different between the first-year students and the final-year students.

The thesis also finds out that it is unsuitable studying method and self-study passivity that causes the above matter.

The thesis will be the useful reference to all teachers and students in Colleges in general and those in The Armed Police College in particular.
