(1) Behavioral disorders in adolescents living in social care facilities are understood as a pattern of repeated behaviors in which the basic rights of others, social norms (appropriate for the age group 10-18 years old) or rules in the social care facility where the child lives are violated. Children with behavioral disorders frequently engage in fighting, cruelty to animals or others, property destruction, fire-related activities, theft, frequent lying, truancy, running away from home, frequent irritability, and verbal defiance. Children with behavioral disorders often violate social expectations (ages 10-18 years old); frequently engage in more serious behaviors than the mischievous behavior of their peers or engage in rebellious behavior against adults (mother/aunt or caregivers at the center). In addition, these symptoms must persist continuously for six months to qualify as a behavioral disorder.
(2) Adolescents living in social welfare facilities exhibit behavioral disorders in terms of aggressive behavior and misconduct.
(3) Lack of communication skills, boredom, negative feelings and thoughts about family circumstances, and bullying are contributing factors that worsen behavioral disorders in adolescents living in social welfare facilities.
(4) Mutual support, number of close friends, number of times playing with close friends in a week, group activities in the social welfare facility, and contact with family are factors that contribute to mitigating behavioral disorders in adolescents living in social welfare facilities.
