10. Summary of the thesis results:

Graphic information is no longer a novelty in Vietnamese journalism today. In Vietnam, compared to the past, television stations, online newspapers, and websites now dedicate many articles to using graphic information.

With the topic "Using Graphic Information in Online Newspapers Today," this thesis focuses on researching the issues of using graphics in online news works, surveying the current state of graphic information usage on two online news sites, Vnexpress.net and Vietnamplus.vn. From this, it identifies the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of graphic information. Simultaneously, it proposes several solutions to improve the quality of graphic information usage in Vietnamese online newspapers today.

Chapter 1 of the thesis presented the theoretical and practical issues of graphic information, including some concepts and terminology, the history of the formation and development of graphic information, the characteristics and role of graphic information, and methods of representing graphic information.

Chapter 2 of the thesis surveys and evaluates the current state of graphic information usage on the online news sites Vnexpress and Vietnamplus from December 2014 to December 2015. The surveys focus on the quantity and frequency of graphic information usage in news articles within specific sections of each website surveyed. The thesis also presents detailed results on the quantity and proportion of each graphic information presentation method used, including tables, data boxes, maps, diagrams, charts, graphs, and illustrative images, for each section and each online news site. Furthermore, the author conducted a survey of 500 readers of the surveyed online news sites regarding the quantity and presentation methods, their advantages and disadvantages, difficulties in receiving the information, and suggestions for improving the quality of graphic information.

Through this, the thesis also evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of using graphic information on online newspapers, and the causes of these limitations.

Chapter 3 of the thesis proposes several solutions to improve the quality of graphic information used in online newspapers. Simultaneously, the thesis focuses on introducing methods and tools for creating graphic information that can have a better impact on readers.

11. Practical applications:

A systematic study of issues related to graphic information, especially in journalism, is of paramount importance. This thesis will make significant contributions to building and refining the scientific and theoretical foundations of graphic information. Simultaneously, the thesis will provide an overview of the practical application of graphic information in journalistic products, as well as the practical aspects of designing and creating graphic information in media organizations and businesses.

The findings from this survey are expected to serve as a valuable resource for researchers, managers, journalists, and especially those directly involved in and about to present graphic information on media such as television and online newspapers. Furthermore, this thesis can be used as a resource for lecturers and students in their studies and professional activities.

12. Future research directions:

This thesis may open up many avenues for deeper and more comprehensive research on graphic information, such as graphic information in various forms of mass media.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

Graphical information is not too new to Vietnamese journalism today. In the country, comparing to the previous period, the broadcasters, electronic newspapers, internet websites uploaded a lot of articles using graphical information.

With topics Using graphical information on the current electronic media, the thesis focuses on researching the issues of using graphics on the electronic and internet journal, making survey about status of using graphics on 2 internet journals: Vietnamplus.vn and Vnexpress.net. From that, the thesis draws the characteristics, features, advantages and disadvantages of graphical information. It also proposes some solutions to improve the quality of using graphical information on Vietnamese electronic newspapers at this time.

In chapter 1 of the thesis, the Author presented the theoretical and practical basis of Infographic which includes concepts and terminology, history and development of graphical information, characteristics and roles of infographic and the method to express infographic.

In chapter 2 of the thesis, the Author conducted a survey to assess the status of infographic using 2 big electronic sites: Vnexpress and VietnamPlus in the period from 12/2014 to 12/2015. The study concentrated on the number, frequency of infographic use in the news, articles of specific categories for each website in the survey area. On the other hand, the thesis also provides detailed results in the number and proportion of infographic use including: tables, data box, map; Diagrams; Chart; Graphs and Illustrations for each category, each electronic news site, electronic information page. Simultaneously, the author conducted investigation in 500 readers of the sites in this survey on the number, form of expression, strengths and weaknesses evaluation, access difficulties in receiving and suggests solution to improve the quality of infographic. Thereby, the author also evaluated the advantages and limitations of infographic using the electronic newspapers and thecause of these restrictions.

In chapter 3 of the thesis, the Author suggested some solutions to improve the quality of the infographic use in the electronic news sites. Simultaneously, the author focuses on the methods and tools for building a work of infographic which is likely to have better impact on readers.

11. Practical applicability, if any:

Researching the infographic related topics, especially in the media, in a systematic manner, is a very important. The thesis will have certain contributions in building and completing scientific and theoritical basis of infographic. Simultaneously, the thesis will also provide an overview of the practical application of information graphics in the media as well as the practice of designing and building infographics in the agency report as well as the business press.

The auther hope that conclusions derived from the survey would become useful resource for researchers, managers, journalists and especially those who directly use infographics in their articles. Simultaneously, the thesis can be used as material for teachers and students to use in their study process as well as their professional activities.
