The thesis presents the concept of energy, oil, the current state of energy sources in the world and the importance of energy to the economies of countries in the world as well as to Russia and the EU. The thesis also analyzes the oil factor affecting the Russia - EU relationship from 2000 to present. Specifically, it presents and analyzes policies and measures on the current state of the trade relationship between Russia and the EU and assesses the impacts of the oil factor on the Russia - EU relationship. From there, the thesis provides assessments and prospects for the Russia - EU relationship in the coming time.
